After a week being laid up with my first proper winter cold, in between bouts of sneezing I've managed to catch up on some Christmas movies. My top five are:
1. Black Christmas - the 1974 festive Canadian frightfest which kicked off the slasher genre and stars John Saxon, one of my fave actors.
2. Tale from The Crypt - the classic British 70's horror anthology based on 1950's EC comics starting with Joan Collin's gory Christmas cracker involving an escaped homicidal maniac.
3. Scrooged - the hilarious US 80's Ed Murray take on a Christmas Carol also starring Karen Allen of Indiana Jones fame.
4. A Christmas Carol - the old British black and white Alistair Sim version, Very gothic. Very atmospheric.
5. Elf / Home Alone / The Grinch - can't make my mind up but number 5 is a big slice of American Yuletide fun.
What are your top 5 films you love to see at Christmas readers? It could also be TV shows or even radio programmes!
I hate to sound miserable, but I've never liked Christmas movies, Christmas episodes of TV shows, or Christmas songs, I don't even like Kate Bush's Christmas single and that is saying something! Bah!
