 Part of a previous birthday celebration, I've always loved Paul McCaffrey's artwork for the modern Project SWORD story in the special TV21 #243.

WHO OWNS PROJECT SWORD?

I read with interest the latest on the fabulous Down The Tubes website concerning various TV21 titles and who owns them. A complicated business, I was interested to see Project SWORD listed in the details. If you do read this article maybe you could conform that you too think it means that the company Rebellion now own Project SWORD or have I read it incorrectly?

Do you think we will ever see ALL the TV21 SWORD text stories re-issued and bound in a single volume, which would be good?

As an aside, does the new ownership of TV21 by Rebellion and a title like Project SWORD affect any ownership of the Project SWORD toy line, which was part of the Century 21 Toys brand? What do you think?

JON DAVIS TV21 ARTIST: RIP

Jon Davis's son has been in touch to pass on the sad news that his Dad, Jon, passed away on the 29th November last year.

Among many other accolades and achievements, Jon illustrated many Project SWORD stories for Century TV21 comic, some of which have featured here.

His family have a tribute website for Jon, which includes many personal photographs and original artwork.

EXCLUSIVE CAPTAIN SCARLET ART PANEL BY PAUL McCAFFREY

Hello Woodsy

Hope all's well with you. I'm still an avid reader of the blog – though one of your recent posts did make me wince!

I don't know if you've heard but Network's final Captain Scarlet blu-ray is available as a deluxe thingy with art cards, extra bits and a comic. 

And I've drawn one of the strips – Martin Baines, the other. 

I asked if I could share any of the pages with you but I was told I couldn't, just yet – only a panel. 

So, here's one -above!

Once the whole package is out, I should be able to show more.

project sword in tv21 issue 243

MC reader and fellow blogger Kid very kindly alerted me to the current sale of TV21 issue 243 this week. It is being sold seperately.

For fans of Project SWORD in particular it will be on interest as it contains a new text story and illustration. The story, Ring of Fire, was penned by Shaqui Le Vesconte [founder of the late Gerry Anderson Complete Comics History] and illustrated by Paul MCCaffrey.

The story and art represent the first 'official' addition to the Project SWORD literary canon since it folded in TV21 comic in 1969.

You may recall that Paul McCaffrey donated his original artwork to Moonbase Central as a competition prize and Network did the same with a copy of TV21 issue 243 a couple of years ago.

For those of you who wish to perhaps celebrate 50 years of Project SWORD or maybe add one final TV21 to your collection then consult Kid's article on the sale of the new comic on his fab blog here, Crivens! Comics and Stuff. No point me re-inventing the wheel.

As an aside, I do recall Scoop saying that the TV21-styled programme from the latest Fanderson con, Special Assisgnment this year contained another project SWORD story, by Sam Denham, which I've yet to have a look see.
