Eldon Scenics Photos: Moon Survey
I asked Max, from maxsmodels about the Eldon scenic kits, and he said that someone had sent him photos of the Moon Survey set, which had appeared in one of his Viewer's Builds videos. I looked through these and found the one he was referring to. It was the first in the series (now up to 13), dated 26th July 2020.
Max's Models viewer's builds - YouTube
This is an 18 minute slide show of still photos that people have sent him of their models. At 9:56 is a very clear photo of the Eldon 3-D Scenics Moon Survey box top. Then three close-up shots of the completed model. Very nice.
The set came with a brown wood-grain picture frame, moulded (vac-from ?) lunar surface, printed backscene with the Earth in clear view, two Astronauts, and a Moon Beetle robot with legs. It came with Testors brand paints, cement, thinners, and brush. Overall size 19 inches by 12 inches. These are the best photos I have seen of this set.
The Lunar set seems to have been released in late 1966, in time for Christmas. Therefore well before the real Apollo missions, so the spacesuits and equipment do not show what was actually used on the Moon, but an early vision of what they might look like. The Sea Lab set was available at about the same time, but I am not sure if the announced Prehistoric set was actually released, as I have not been able to find anything on it besides a mention in Eldon advertising.

Eldon Scenics Kits Update
I came across an old ad for the Eldon Scenics kits that have appeared before on Moonbase, and did a little further digging. There is not a lot of information on these kits. This is what I found.
First up, from the Alamy site, which seems to be professional stock photos for publishing, a full-colour magazine ad for the Moon Survey set. The sets were 19 inches by 12 inches, and came with a frame, curved backscene, as well as Testors paints, cement, and thinners.

Eldon have been mentioned a couple of times before on Moonbase Central, these are the posts.
Pages from an old catalogue, showing the kits.
MOONBASE CENTRAL: THE ELDON ARMOURY (projectswordtoys.blogspot.com)
A short film clip of the 1968 British Toy Fair, with the Eldon Sea Lab kit on the Wells Brimtoy stand, I assume they distributed the kits in Britain. Shown at the start of the clip.
Now a post showing the assembled Moon Survey kit, and an old magazine ad from the American magazine Boy's Life for November 1966 'announcing a new hobby', so I assume these kits were released in late 1966, just in time for Christmas ?
This ad says that the Sea Lab kit is also available, and that there will soon be a Prehistoric Kit, with more Scenic Kits to come. The only pictures I could find of the actual kits were for the Lunar and Sea Lab sets. Despite being shown in the Eldon catalogue, I am not sure if the planned Prehistoric kit was actually released.
There really does not seem to be a lot of information around on these kits. They are not mentioned on the Scalemates or Old Model Kits sites, and I could not find anything on You Tube. The fact they were shown in the Toy Fair video at least suggests they were sold in Britain.
Here are the references I could find.

Then some items from Worthpoint.

That is about it for now. Take care.

Eldon Scenic Kit on Film
I have just found these on You Tube, in case you have not seen them before, although I expect you have. Both clips are British Pathe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRb4Akm_RZM
British Toy Fair 1968, with a beautiful (and large) plastic car ferry, Pelham Puppets of the Beatles, toy guns, a space car that should interest you, and Airfix kits. There is even a made up Eldon 3D Scenic kit - the undersea one with the diver and shark - sitting on a table.
Next up, the 1958 Fair with covered wagon pedal cars, Herald cowboys with interchangeable parts, dancers of the world, a dog sled, a gun for firing table tennis balls, ship kits, and a super shell garage.

Several of these toys have appeared on Moonbase Central in the past.
