Your mention of Cliff Richard in August had me searching for my 'Summer Holiday' bus. Couldn't find it, looked on line and found there's a second version!

Woodsy asks: Does anyone collect Cliff Richard stuff?
Very nice, Richmond Toys I think ? I have never seen one of these at a fair here. Is it the usual OO scale ? I found a site called Buses on Screen which gives information on the real bus. It is an AEC Regent III RT bus. Three buses were used in the film. http://busesonscreen.net/screen1/index.php?p=screenfm.fms.summerholiday Once upon a time Cliff Richard movies were a regular on TV, but not any more. I just have a few DVDs, but hardly a collection.
His star was up then Kev. He should be a nati9nal treasure now like Macca but I don't think he is. OK he's knighted but his output since the Sixties has been decidely cheesy. Just my opinion. Ill shut up now.
Fab. It was landmark series. I saw Rik Mayall in a night club on stage. I was a student wine waiter serving wine. I was actually serving Rick Wakeman from Yes when Rick M came on stage. He threw 3 ice cubes onto the floor and said he was an eskimo having a pee!
Cliff was the British Elvis I think Paul. Yes, there were others: Tommy, Marty Wilde and the great Billy Fury from Liverpool [who visited my Parent's home in the Sixties!] but Cliff just seems to have been more famous at the time.
Swingers' Paradise was the US title of Wonderful Life (1964), the one set in the Canary Islands, where they stumble into a film set, and end up pretty much taking over the production.

N8ce info Paul. Thanks. Yez, its odd. Cliff was the original British rocker. Our Elvis. But he became a bit naff I think and lost his rock.
DeleteOther than a 45 record of Devil Woman,no.But perhaps Rick from The Young Ones has more ;)
ReplyDeleteDid you see the Young Ones in the States?
DeleteLet's not forget, he was in Thunderbirds Are Go, that must count for something?

DeleteThe original British rocker ? What about Tommy Steele, I think he was a little earlier ? Rock With the Caveman came out in 1956.

DeleteCliff Richard! His movies Summer Holiday and Swingers Paradise are terrific, real old-school musicals.
