I saw this on auction, an odd looking winged vehicle like a Thunderbirds transporter car welded to a formula 1 racer! 

Made in Japan. I can't read the Japanese script.

8 Wheels to Tomy

 A stalwart of Tomy's space stable, it's 8 wheeled climber was a design classic. There are a number of variants and I'm unsure if this is the origin but it's a great example in that cool photo box. The blue rocket behind is another Tomy toy I think.

Bob's Space Construction truck Series by S.S. Kresge

Hi Woodsy,

I came across, and purchased off of Ebay (new toy to me) a space construction truck vehicle which appears exclusive to S.S. Kresge stores.

By the price tag, probably from late 60s. I could not find anything about it on the blog. It's friction powered. There appears to be three vehicles in the series.

Made in Hong Kong. It's similar to the more common Tomy Space Explorer (battery op) series of construction vehicles that's been discussed several times on the blog. 

Any info?

Moon Rescue

 Whilst browsing Todocolleccion I saw these neat space toys.

This is some sort of 8 wheeled space crane. 

The crane folds up at the rear. Something maybe missing on top.

This Spanish Rescate Lunar is very swish. A moon rescue craft. But which moon?

It's clearly some sort of futuristic pedalo.

There could be some this missing on top.

STOMPERS BY LANCE

On the Stomper version of the Flex the tires do not split. Same with the Stomper version of the Animal, the claws are always out.

Galoob made large versions of the Flex and Animal where the tires reacted. If the Flex ran into an obstacle, the hubs moved in and made the tires balloon out so it could go over it

The Animal had 'hidden' claws that would come out (3 per each tire) when it encountered difficulty. People confuse the Animal with the Claw which on the latter, the tires would split open revealing claws and extend the overall size of the tire to clear an obstacle.

BROHM MOON TIPPER TRUCK; THE ALLRAD MOND KIPPER

I've owned a JR21 flyng saucer for some time.

The German version was called the Weltraum Erkunder by Brohm. Its pictured here on Brohm's marketing material.

Interestingly among the other Brohm space toys there's a moon truck shown above in yellow.

A classic 8 wheeler it would make a fine companion to the flying saucer orbiting the moon.

As an aside I've just noticed that the flying saucers shown look silver rather than the standard red.

The silver saucers suggest that they are the Poliplast version from Greece.

TENTH BIRTHDAY MEMORIES: SPACE EIGHT: BILL'S 8 WHEELS ON MY WAGON POST FROM 2009

I've always had a love of ground based space vehicles, especially anything with wheels or tracks and recently I managed to grab a new addition to my collection. The Tomy Space Climbing Mobile, besides being a great toy, also brought with it a host of questions that blog readers will be familiar with - the old chicken and egg scenario.

Cosmetically, the toy is almost the same as the Sears Moon Mobile I blogged a while ago, but also has similarities to Tomy's other line of Space Eight toys. The larger Tomy vehicle shares the same basic chassis as the Sears toy, but the upper Hull is radically different. This begs the question as to which was made first ? The Sears toy has a jointed pilot that looks very like a Matt Mason toy, but the Tomy one has the same styling as the later Space Eight toys.

The S8 vehicles are much smaller and all plastic. They were also marketed as Space Construction Vehicles and came with a variety of other styles including a tipper and a large grab. However, the Tomy Space Climbing Mobile is a large, powerful toy and came almost complete, it was just missing the radar screen that it shares with the Sears truck.
