TAG Thunderbird 2 Specials

Hi,

               From maxsmodels, here is a collection of viewer build models. 

The most interesting start at 14:57, with several examples of Thunderbird 2 from the recent Thunderbirds Are Go series, that have been repainted. 

First up, one in overall white, with Royal Australian Air Force markings and a pod carrying the UN flag. Apart from the incorrectly positioned wing roundels (the feet should be facing inwards, not outwards), this is really nice. 

More examples follow: one in Canadian Rescue markings; WW2 RAF, one in pink with two girls standing on top - no idea what this is about; US Navy Blue Angels aerobatic team support aircraft - they usually have a C-130 Hercules; WW2 Luftwaffe in desert camouflage disgorging a Tiger I tank; one which seems to have had an engine fire; a Star Wars version; WW2 US Navy with lots of guns; a Full Stack shuttle version; US Coast Guard; and US Marine Corps air ambulance. 

Followed by several other SF models, some in RAF markings. Also the Orion from 2001 in British Airways colours. Great fun.

BANDAI'S THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO AT THE LONDON TOY FAIR

The ever intrepid H, the Small Scale World toy website press correspondent, kindly sent MC these snaps he took at the London Toy Show of the upcoming Thunderbirds Are Go toys from Bandai. Thanks H!

As Scoop reported here in January, Bandai were named UK distributor for the toys in the trade press back in late January:

Its reported that the product range will be produced by Hengxin Shambala Kids Cultural Industry Development, Bandai's master toy partner in China. Distribution will be managed by Bandai UK.

According to the trade journal Toynews, "The new toy line consists of collectables, action figures and vehicles which encourage imaginative rescue roleplay and interaction between the characters and their craft".

THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO : EOS

A brief synopsis of the latest TAG episode, 'EOS'.

This episode  answers some questions posed in last week's 'Runaway' episode were a computer virus compromised the testing of a high speed train.

After examining and identifing this virus John Tracy discovers it uses sub routines he, himself has created. This week's episode sees John fight for life as the virus takes over Thunderbird 5.

Shades of 2001: A Space Odyssey in this one. The focal point of the EOS virus is a circular lense reminiscent of HAL. I was half expecting EOS to say "I can't let you do that, John!"

Another nice aspect was the feeling of John's isolation in space, especially when he is cut off from Tracy Island.

Plenty of insights into the workings of Thunderbird 5 here to, although I'm not sure I'd get used to walking across its 'glass' floors, reminds me of the glass floor at the top of Blackpool tower!

All in all I found it an enjoyable story though , less juvenile than some we've seen, although I do think it's time to start having proper rescues that  are caused by something other than clichéd computer glitches and relying on techno babble to solve the endings.
