Moon Express

This trip of space gems is an old auction picture. The Marx Moon vehicles we know well, as too the Space Safari. 

No so familiar is the Moon Express. The box art is delightful. Id like to see this toy set up. Anyone got one?

ITS BOUND TO ESCALATE!

 This caught my eye on an old auction, Space Flash with Escalator and Cars.

The box art is fabulous although I don't know the brand, a single stylized S.

The contents look good. I've seen sets like this before by different makers. The three cars look like little staplers!

APOLLO IS ON TRACK FOR THE MOON CARRERA

This is cool, a German Carrera Apollo capsule track set from 1969. I would have loved it. Would you?

CARRERA JET SETS: I WANT ONE!

 Wholly new to me, here's the Carrera Aerial Jet set, a sort of monorail race toy, which is so cool its untrue.

The box art of this set is fabulous with its glowing shot of the racing jets.

Looking a lot like a Scalextric set inside, with that thick polystyrene tray, I suppose Carrera can be seen as a slot car type toy. I'm sure I've seen Carrera racing car layouts.

For spaceniks like us there was also a Carrera Jet Apollo set!

The box art is a bit minimalist I feel.

I love the Apollo capsule and the grey moon globe! Reminds me of other space toys with moons!

THE MONORACER

This is an unusual vehicle kit, the Monoracer by BPT.

Seems to be zip-line type toy, the sort of thing Airfix had done with Flight Deck.

I wouldn't have minded Monoracer as a kid.

ELEVATED MODELLING

I've been in the basement building a three foot long model of a NYC Elevated Train Station circa 1900. Why you ask? Because I was fascinated at the amount of steel railroads in the US use.

The elevated subway structure was most famously featured in the movie The French Connection. 

What remains of the EL is part of the subway system but before the subways were built steam trains were built on steel elevated structures that ran up Manhattan Avenues.

I saw a model of that in The Museum of The City of New York back in 1974 and have wanted to build it ever since.
