War in Pocket?
That looks like a G1 Optimus Prime and trailer to me!
Waddaya think?
It was the annual massive Bank Holiday Castleford Rugby Club car boot today.
The Missus bought tons for the Grandkids. My own was a rather meagre haul.
The Scalextric bundle was a fiver. I've no idea of it's age but it looks displayable. The Mercedes SL has been daubed with varnish, which has turned an awful brown. See what you think.
The black car is a Gen 1 Hasbro Transformer, ID yet to be ascertained. It was two whole pounds and will go in the Transformers cabinet.
Any good?
A quick update on Galvatron.
A new battery contact and it works! The eyes light up fine and a couple of sound effects can be heard. I'm please because its the first real bit of battery unit re-wiring I've done. Nothing fancy but its a step forward.
An orange pen top made for a decent head laser too.
Back on childminding detail, we get Tuesdays to ourselves before school pick-ups. Today we re-visited Shipley for a shifty round the charity shops.
Stuff I saw:
Various unknown figures sold as a punnet.
Last Sunday's boot sale was fun.
I was so chuffed to pick up a modern re-issue of the Transformers Rodimus Prime, the big truck at the back here.
As I'm unlikely ever to find an original 1980's Generation 1 Rodimus, this is as close as I'll get without taking out a second mortgage. For just £6 I got the front cab - Hot Rod - and the fabulous opening rear trailer. Its a wonderful thing, which I first really noticed in my Loose Action Figures 'bible' bought way back in 2000 at the NEC. I've been steadily collecting its contents ever since!
My new Rodimus is just missing the secret canon. Think SPV and Swift Removals and you get the idea.
Have you got a Rodimus Prime?
We also picked up a nice 1993 SPV for Junior for Easter for £2 - just missing the missile and in great shape, together with a slew of late 1970's Hot Wheels including a tiny Zowie, the little one at the end.
I've cleaned them up a little since getting them home.
The metallic red Corvette is very Hot Wheels in looks but is actually a Matchbox Superfast. The 'Woody' and Hot Rod are both late 1970's Hot Wheels, with the brand name in straight lettering on the base.
The little Zowie is my fave of the bunch and is the first I've seen for decades. I had them as a kid in the Sixties, together with tiny planes, although I've no idea what the planes were now. Zowie planes? The Zowie doesn't pick up much speed so I can't imagine Mattel issued track for it. Anyone know about Zowies?
I may make a missile for the Vivid SPV.
Grandson Junior collects plastic Numberbots and I was amazed to see online just how they fit together!
A very clever design I thought. You?
Slim Pickens at the February boot sale. Still, very enjoyable and with a cooked breakfast tasty too!
Here's what I got
With prices for an original white Prime trailer being prohibitive, I bodged together my own using a cheapo Eddie Stobart plastic truck.
Covered in white paper and paint and home-made Prime racing stripes, the final icing came today using some ace Autobot decals Bill had made.
Not perfect and non-transforming, it seems to look the part with my Gen1 Magnus cab.
See what you think readers.
Its been a busy and enjoyable week in the spruce-up corner. When I can I sit in my favourite chair with a nice lamp on, cuppa tea to hand a few model cars to touch-up.
This week I tidied up some mid-1980's blue Corgi Batmobiles, an orange racing car and a couple of white Transformers G1 Ultra Magnuses.
To display one of my new Ultra Magnuses I decided to make my own trailer from a cheapo Eddie Stobart plastic toy.
Going for an impression rather than perfection, my Magnus trailer is currently drying on the bookshelf.
Watch this space!
Here's some of my old Transformers and friends like Gobots, a recent collecting passion of mine. Some Generation 1 from the 1980's with some later bots, they've all been found at Car Boot Sales over the past couple of years. It really is fun rummaging through boxes to find these old toys.
Do you collect Transformers?
