THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW LAST SUNDAY

Thanks to Scoop's heads-up I caught The Day After Tomorrow - Into Infinity on TV. I really enjoyed it I must say. Shot in that Seventies style that's more like a play than a film, the great Gerry Anderson captured space travel at warp speed really well.

The ship, Altares, reminded me of the SWORD Booster Rocket. I don't suppose it ever made it into kit form or a toy factory given the rarity of the film's screenings. Or?

Gerry Anderson's Funeral

Gerry Anderson's funeral took place yesterday in Reading, southern England. I have just read about it on the BBC News website and thought I'd share the link. It must have been an incredibly sad day for his family first and foremost and the end of an era for the countless fans who made the journey there and those like me who didn't. Rest in Peace Gerry and thanks for everything.

Gerry Anderson 1929 - 2012

A very sad day for all us folks whose childhood was enhanced by this man of vision, and certainly all his sci-fi series have been a big influence on us all.

 

 

Here's a photo of Gerry taken by my mate and fellow Anderson fan, Andy Kerr at the last Fanderson convention we attended in 2010. On a personal note  Andy and I met up at the second Fanderson convention in 1982, and  have been mates ever since.
