THE BATS IN THE HANGAR

 Its been a funny old week. I'm off work at the moment. Last weekend I spotted this pair of dinosaurs in a wool shop. Knitting was a popular Jurassic pastime don't you know!

My second bodgemobile is coming on very slowly. Here it is in the Bat hangar with a fresh coat of non-black paint and protected from dust and dog hairs. At the current rate Bruce Wayne will be able to take it out around Christmas Day!

Much more road worthy is this cool plastic Mars mobile by Playmobil we snaffled in a charity shop for Junior. I really like this flat wide design for a Mars car. Do you?

BATMAN AND THE BOOT SALE

 Made it to a winter car boot sale this morning. Yay! Just what Doctor Die-Cast ordered as I was getting withdrawal symptoms!

Today's catch - minus the Batmobile from last time - was a 1979 Hot Wheels Peterbilt truck, a Superfast cab and trailer, a Corgi GT 70, a Rolamatics tank and a Speed King Shovel Nose.

Back home I'd promised myself some me time to mess with my second battered batmobile you can see above.

This one gave up its dash and steering wheel when I tipped it up!

I painted the dash silver and made a scratch missile launcher out of a straw and a biro tube.

I then had fun scratching together a red plastic flame for the rear exhaust using bits of a plastic tie fastener.

I'm waiting for the model paint to arrive in the post before attempting the body. It'll be a brave new look for Bats I hope!

MY CORGI BODGEMOBILE: GOTHAM PRETTY

 Here's my battered Corgi Batmobile that I've "done up" using what I could find in the Batcave.

Holy Bacofoil!

Hope you like it. It was fun to do.

and here's the actual scrapmobile I did up, the lower one with missile launcher intact.

The other one can wait!

BATS BY MOONLIGHT

 Whilst Alfred waits for a few new parts the unfinished Batmobile rests in the cave.

KAPOW! - THE CORGI BATMOBILE 1ST ISSUE - ALMOST!

The Corgi Batmobile first appeared in October 1966 and continued to be produced in various forms until 1983.

This is one of the earlier versions which has gold wheel hubs with red bats, although the earliest versions were painted a matt black when first released, reputably because when Corgi representatives had visited the  real Batmobile it had only it's black primer and not its final gloss coat. Subsequently Corgi gave the model a gloss black finish a few months later. 

These original versions had no tow hook, so when the Batboat was released a year later, a plastic add-on hook was made to solve the problem until Corgi began producing later models complete with metal hooks.

This hook meant that later models didn't have the 'Turbine fire'  bobbing in and out.

Even though my example is a little painted chipped and the screens have little hairline cracks, apparently, according to the Corgi Batmobile website it wasn't uncommon for brand new Batmobiles to leave the Corgi factory with a little damage as during manufacture they were packed together in metal trays, metal to metal, and so to quote a line from the site -' it it's mint it wasn't made here'.

Even though Corgi decided against doing the red strips on the bodywork, there is some nice detail in the cockpit. You can just see the emergency Bat-turn lever under the beacon.

The flip out chain-cutter was down to Corgi, as the Bat- ram as seen in the TV series wasn't a feasible option to fit underneath easily.

Just for good measure there's the triple rocket firing tubes behind the canopy.
