IT IS THE WAY

I've finished watching the excellent Mandalorian on Disney+

As usual I'm seeing connections all over.

For instance the helmet and the armour.

I'm thinking Ancient Greek ....

or Roman!

The jet pack, Rising Pheonix, that Mando's given near the end.....

 reminded me completely of the Krygo 5 eraser from Diener's 1970's rubber range.

And those little musicals trills after Mando had finished zapping everyone is a deadringer for Clint and his little flutey signature whistle in those old Sergio Leone Westerns.

Overall the Mandalorian recalls somewhat the helmeted warrior in Timmee's Galaxy Laser Team.

MANDOLORIAN RIFLE STOCKS

You recently mentioned The Mandolorian, a series which I have not seen, and the unusual shape of his rifle stock. 

It was not just early firearms that used this fish-tail shape, several light machine guns of WW2 used a similar design. The German MG34 and MG42 spring to mind, as do various Japanese light machine-guns - their Type 11 LMG looked very odd.

 The Mandolorian gun is a little more exaggerated, but the basic shape is there. Here is a photograph from Wikipedia, showing the MG34 on both a bi-pod for use in the light machine-gun role, and on a tri-pod for use as a heavy machine-gun. 

The Japanese Type 11 dates from the 11th Year of the reign of the Emperor Taisho, or 1922.

MANDOLORIAN MUSINGS

 Having been given Disney + for Christmas by a friend I've been enjoying the Mandalorian and here are a few basic observations I've made.

When I see him I always think of the pink and green figures in Tim Mee Toys Galaxy Heroes, especially the pink helmet and the green space rifle with its tapered stock.

Some real old rifles had a tapered stock.

Not to mention lots of toy space rifles.

Mando's two-pronged rifle tip is iconic now, like a giant tuning fork and searching for similar in the real world I found this double-tipped cattle prod.

The child is ridiculously cute.

Its quaint look and slow movements reminded me completely of characters on the TV show Moon and me.

I've just got up to to an episode called The Gunslinger.
