Up and Down with LP's Clown

 It's great to get close ups from an auction of the LP clown car. 

Looking a lot like an early Pennywise, he's all geared up to trundle in his motor.

Looking at the axle it probably bobbed up and down too.

It's always interesting to see more of LPs output, besides their better-known space toys and astronauts.

LP MUSICIANS

 Speaking of LP musicians, here's a small orchestra of them I saw on a Japanese site. They get around!

All numbered on the base, this harpist, A8, is also clearly showing the LP logo.

LP FARMERS

These two mini farmer figures are so darn cute. The husband is carrying a lamb and the wife a tub of corn maybe.

(Pinocchio looks mean!)

The farmers, as far as I know, are part of LP's huge Hong Kong range of small plastic novelty figures, which includes musician animals and clowns.

Interestingly these two are numbered simply as A.

LP and Britains Space Set?

 There's strange goings on here.

This carded set in my old pics archive is a mixture of chromed LP Moon Platoon aliens and what appears to be a Britains Starguard figure, also chromed. 

Is this something you've seen before readers? 

LN Cartoon Animals and LP Space Dogs

LP/ Lik Be plastic Space Dogs have appeared here a few times. 

This old auction shot - full of goodness or what! - shows two brown ones in the centre, in header carded bags. There's a fascinating link to LP's space domes, which you can read about on my good friend Paul Vreede's cool SpaceX toys site.

Of interest to fans who collect these are LN's Cartoon Animals.

Similarly header bagged, these cute Hong Kong appear to have rolling eyes, although the header says friction motor, so they're not true rollers like LP's.

I love the space scene on the headers!

Galleon Star Adventurer

This neat Star Adventurer was listed on Vectis as being issued by Galleon of Hong Kong.

Most of us will think of it as LP / Lik Be.

Galleon has come up before in MC, having released a 2001 Space Glider.

Who are Galleon?

Ed's Buck Rogers HG Toys Galactic Play Set

Here's one of about two dozen playsets sitting out in The Cave that I finally took off the shelf and started photographing. 

I don't have all the photos taken yet but this will give you an indication of the treasures within this set.

The playset is based on the television series which ran from 1979-81 and HG Toys did a really nice job in packing a lot of action into a relatively small playset.

There are:

Three distinct sets of figures:

-Character figures from the TV series

-Space Commandos

-Robo Aliens (provided by LP)

Spaceships:

-Two brown Draconian Marauders of the Draconian Empire (the bad guys)

-Two white starfighters

(I still need to apply the stickers onto the spaceships and then photograph them)

-One large flying saucer. 

The words 'Star Station X-5' are molded into the upper hull, and this saucer is a hold-over from previous HG space playsets like their 'Alien Attack' and 'Space Wars' playsets. 

(The box art shows a blue saucer, but I've only ever seen yellow)

Cardboard Graphics:

-Seven separate graphics depicting alien landscapes and a landing strip

This time it's the 'LP' brand #405B Space Explorer Car in bright yellow ala 'Bluebird' (a manufacturer of school buses here in the States).

I saw this hard rubbery plastic cat figure described as LP on Ebay but I'm unsure.

On the back is Made in Hong Kong and numbered 948 I think.

Its missing the LP logo.

A regular jazz band LP plastic animal, of which there are many, has a clear LP logo as seen here on number A6, the sax rabbit.

Golden Astronaut: Peering into Oblivion

I was out in The Cave yesterday and took a few snaps of some of my small toys.

Here an LP astronaut stands next to his Space Explorer Car to view the terrain.

To LP or not to LP? That is the Motorcycle

Hi,

I picked up the the LP Space Motorcycle this new year. It is a wondrous beauty! 

The motorcycle itself is in mint condition, with handle bar still in a separate plastic bag (will I ever be able to open it, just to see the motorcycle complete - wouldn't bet on it). The box is wonderfully in shape, but has some slight water damage on one end and one picture panel. Still, the box displays nicely too

Only when I received the item, I noticed that there are two different box versions! Just compare the photos attached. My example has the LP logo and item number, #106, printed on the picture panel. while the Alphadrome example has none [below left]. 

I wonder which came first, and why there are two editions of this elusive space toy? The colour of the motorcycle dashboard is also different between the toys themselves.

Anyone else got one?

Ed's LP Green and Grey Aliens

Woodsy, this year has been one for catching up on posting figure photos on my blog Toys and Stuff* where I've been posting many spacemen, aliens, and WWII figures.

MASH-UP MASTERS: LARAMI AND TIARRI DRAGON MASTER SETS

Here's a classic mash-up: Dragon Master.

The 'fantasy monsters' are our old friends the LP aliens - these one's suckered - and here being recycled as part of the sword and sorcery craze. I saw it on auction so saved the snaps a while back.

And its a Larami toy and not LP!

There's a bar code over the word Master, so its relatively modern as LP aliens go.

Do you like it?

 

Larami developed the line into proper dragons and warriors like this one.

and a sub-set of pocket puzzles.

Here's the same 'LP' set shown first - now called Fantasy Figures - released by someone else, Tiarri Management Services of N.S.W - New South Wales? Was this for the Australian market?

Tiarri were busy too: here's their dinosaur mash-up - are they Imperial's - with two unknown dragons at the top.

and what appear to be robot orcs and goblins. Are these from another line?

LP Clown Car #307 Lik Be

I recently saw this on Ebay, the LP clown car. It's been on MC as part of a circus set before but not up close like this courtesy of the auction listing.
