IL TRASTORIELLO MONDADORI: SPANISH ACTION TRANSFERS

 

I adored Action Stickers when I was a kid. You know, those rub-down transfers that went onto different glossy scenes. There were loads of packs and space was popular.

These packs from Spain look like a similar thing, Il Trastoriello Mondadori.

Besides Space Lab above, We have Star Hawks, which looks great!

and the mystery planet

On the back we can see some of that familiar rubbing action. Oh what fun!

Action Transfers or Stickers were really popular and still are with collectors.

Googling the Spanish name brought up a LOT of sets!

These Battle in Outer Space Action Transfers are just crazy. I mean look at those aliens! One of them looks like a SpaceX LAMA toy!

A WHALE OF A TIME

Hello Woodsy,

Weeks ago we drove to Mystic Connecticut for the Seaport Museum as it was the last day of a loaner exhibit from The Tate Gallery in London of Turner Watercolours.

The reason they were at Mystic is some of the paintings were of whaling and Mystic has the last of the 19th century whaling ships, The Charles W. Morgan.

We saw the exhibit and had time to walk around the open air museum and the Morgan. It was very reminiscent of the Gregory Peck starring movie, Moby Dick.

In going through one of the boxes in our garage I found this Letraset item. The cover says DOZENS OF ACTION TRANSFERS INSIDE which is technically true, there are two dozen (24) transfers.

My scanner isn't large enough to capture the 18" background in one scan, but here it is.

They appear to be an Action Transfers' Apollo set.

Terranova's Soccer Action Replay Action Transfers

Sometimes it amazes me what I thought to collect and save. 

Having used Letraset from it's early days (inspired by William Rushton's Private Eye layouts) I had no interest in using it for play, though I did buy these Soccer sets for kids' gifts.

I'm surprised to find it was saved with the plastic Arsenal badge. I lived pretty much equal distant from both Arsenal and Spurs so couldn't really decide on loyalty to one or the other, so chose neither!
