Any Old Iron?

 There's a travelling antiques valuer visiting our village hall.

A sort of fancy rag and bone man I guess (I remember them vividly as a kid.Do you?), dressed in a suit sat at a little baize topped table.

There'll be valuations galore and hopefully a few ..... purchases!

We've lots of old creaky stuff that needs to go: jewelery, cutlery, nic nacs. You'll have the same I'm sure, gathering dust in the dark.

It's probably of no value whatsoever - our stuff - we've done an auction and this is what's left - so one last blast is worth a punt and the walk to the hall will do us oldies some good.

I suspect though there'll be a queue a mile long as everyone will have had the same idea!

After this, TV's Cash Cow is the next stop!

Easing round Elsecar

 A mosey round the huge Elsecar emporium, despite not buying anything, did throw up a few things to photograph.

A Tufty Club bendy. It must have been a bigger deal than I recall on TV, the Tufty Club. I've seen books, games and now a bendy! 

I had thought at first glance this was Tom Baker but it's Austin Powers of course.

This was Tom Baker though! 

Maybe the earliest Superman annual I've handled, this was dated 1958!

Lots of Hornby trains with many many red boxes items.

Two attractive early space age pictures.

And seen a few times in MC, old Tivvy, this one being a plastic savings box for a bank.

Sausages and Supercar in South Yorkshire

 In my ongoing quest to find novelty Hong Kong plastic toys I visit a lot of emporiums.

My mate calls it junking.

One place we visit is Harrisons near Rotherham. A massive hangar if what seems like a million glass cabinets and an auction house to boot. They do a mean sausage butty too! 

Today's trip didn't garner anything I wanted but there's always interesting stuff. Here's a few tasty morsels I clocked. See what you think.

Glass bead ashtrays that were everywhere in my parents' home when I was a kid. Do you remember them?

Matlock Morsels

 Mooching round Matlock's vintage shops I saw this die-cast shelf. Pink Panther and the blue wheely thing, are they Kenner Revrods?

Two SPVs. Looks like one's been painted dark blue.

The bagged balloon car bottom left is interesting. Anyone know it?

Bong Moonbuggy here. Can you name the red game part used at the rear of it? (Quiz question). The Interceptor has been repainted too. The bagged car hung up top left is another one of those unusual balloon powered vehicles.

This would have been my take-away if I'd been spending, this amazing Mattel Wizzer Gift Set. I absolutely adore the boomer box art! I had a Wizzer as a kid, a fabulous weighted spinning top. Did you?

Looey's Second Hand Sheds

On our road trip home from Melbourne, we passed through Daylesford and Castlemaine. BOTH had extensive second hand market sheds one claimed to be the largest in the Southern hemisphere!

Regardless of the veracity of that claim, there was plenty for Moonbasers to look at.

"Macarthur's pricing in the dark..."

Hello Moonbasers,

here is my latest trek through Antique Shops in the Blue Mountains NSW Australia...

Macarthur's Arcade used to be a Men's outfitter in the 60's (I think) I've tried looking for a history but only came up with a website review from 2014.

 Anyway, it has a nice '60's style facade and sign facing onto Katoomba's main Street.

"Show us the toys!"

The prices are in the "Tell 'em they're dreamin' range" but with all the tourists traipsing past, they can obviously afford to keep the doors open.

Just remember that A$1 is worth about 50p. So you can get an idea of the pricing.
