I'm still collecting the Batman Automobilia set from Eaglemoss, and still enjoying them, but my favourites are the five models they've taken (so far) from the 1966 TV series.
The classic George Barris Batmobile based on the one-off 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car. Prior to having a starring role in Batman, the Futura, with a bright red paint job, had appeared in the 1959 film,
It Started With A Kiss, starring Glenn Ford and Debbie Reynolds.
The Batboat created for the 1966 Batman movie by Glastron Industries using a Glastron V-174 speed boat.. The world premier of the movie was held in Austin, Texas, where Glastron Industries is based.
The Batcopter which was a leased Bell 47 helicopter. The Eaglemoss model even carries the FAA registration number N3079G. To make it look like a superhero vehicle huge canvas wings were added which reduced it's power by nearly fifty percent.
Although a leased Harley Davidson with side car was used in an early episode of the Batman series, a new Batcycle was made for the movie based on a Yamaha Catalina 250.
Finally, Batgirl's, Batgirl cycle as seen in season 3, was based on a Yamaha YDS-5E, and customised by the prop department at Fox Studios.
More Eaglemoss Automobilia model photo's to follow.
Tune in tomorrow, Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel.
