Garden Trek

Hi,

As I am retired, I fulfilled my obligation to visit a garden centre this week. To my surprise, in their post Christmas sale, they had a large picture of a starfield, which actually lit up! It was meant for Christmas Village models but I thought it would be good for dioramas and it was cheap, so I bought it!

Anyway, here is the Galileo flying through it.

The Long Shadows of Late Summer

Here's a late summer pic of my old pops reading in the back garden. No idea what though. 

I think the object on the floor next to the chair is a tall glass.

I reckon the toy tractor had been mine but kept on for younger nephews and nieces. 

My guess is it was taken in the early 1970's.

A right blast from the past here tonight on the MoonBase. Camping in the garden! It's a terrific new experience for the Grandkids, we hope!

I think it's the early 1970's since I last camped in a garden, back at my parent's house where I grew up in Preston.

 Summer's splashed right in and people and wildlife are soaking up the rays.

Water Bike

The Yellow Flag is out again in the garden pond. Junior's red motorbike sets it off really well I think. What's blooming at yours?

Operation Zip-line!

One of the things Junior and me tried this weekend was a zip-line. It was an experiment inspired by the old Airfix flight deck I had as a kid, where a jet zoomed down a cord.

So with a fair wind of nostalgia we set about creating our line. String was strung at an angle and a suitable aircraft chosen and hooked up to it, a Playmobil bell helicopter.

We waited with baited breath ... 

And nothing happened. Nowt!

The string was far too course. Nylon was required but alas Moonbase is nylonless.

The copter now hangs in the greenhouse still waiting for its inaugural big flight.

The Grandkids are over.

New Jersey Monster Garden

Hi Woodsy.Spring has Sprung here in New Jersey and I'm doing my part to make things bright and cheerful.

I noticed the decorations in the back yard flower bed were looking pretty haggard,and I was thinking of throwing them away.

Then,I thought of all the great restoration projects I see on Moonbase Central and decided to rescue this eclectic lot of Frogs and Crayfish.After all,I had all the materials I needed,so I dove right in!

I used clay to form any missing limbs,and coated them with Epoxy to make them tough and weatherproof.

A coating of paint for all,and here they are,in all their glory!-

MEMORY MOWING

Hi Woodsy, The toy lawn mower you remembered last month may be a Webb toy lawnmower from the 60's. It was metal and an exact replica of the full size version, only about half to three quarters of the size. It worked so well you could cut grass with it. Mine is currently in the local museum, so this is the only picture I have of it at the moment. Will O.

A Plastic Lawn Mower?

I've just mown the lawn for the first time this year.

I seem to remember having a a plastic lawnmower when I was a kid in the 60s.

Maybe it was one of those heavy mowers with a large roller at the rear. This was the sort of mower my parents had before getting a petrol machine. 

This memory could be completely fabricated but I do have have a very vague feeling that I had one. Does this this ring any bells with you?

VINTAGE BASEBALL CRICKET BALL THROWING TOY MACHINE

This was a blast from the past.

I found it at a boot sale last summer.

A baseball throwing machine.

I had one as a kid.

Mine had a small tennis recket.

This one comes with a plastic cricket bat.

Neat eh!
