GOLDEN ASTRONAUT BILLY BLASTOFF

I saw this golden Billy Blastoff on auction last year and kept the images. It could be part of the South American version, Capitan Boy.

Its a new one on me and I cant decide if the body has simply been painted white to gold by a previous owner. Maybe not/

I like this golden Billy. It sort of fits with the whole Golden Astronaut vibe too.

Looking at it again I'm wondering if its the really tiny version of Billy from South America called Mini Capitan Boy.

I like this little Trol Billy Blastoff I saw online. He's probably related to the Capitan Boy range of South American toys.

CAPITAN BOY - BILLY BLASTOFF IN A VOLCANIC CRATER

This is fun.

On YT, its a 2 minute plus clip of Mexican Billy Blastoff toys gathered on a lunar surface by fan Ricardo Campos.

Billy Blastoff was called Capitan Boy in Mexico and released by prolific toy firm Lili Ledy.

The film-maker Ricardo is clearly passionate about his Billy as he's schlepped them all way onto the Parangueo volcanic lake-crater in Central Mexico to get his moonscape.

When I first saw this clip I was extra excited as I thought it might be linked to one I found a few years ago on You Tube, which I blogged at the time. 

It was a TV ad of the less-well known little brother of Capitan Boy called Mini Capitan Boy, who even comes with Tri-ang SpaceX-styled toys!

The Parangueo clip up top isn't connected to the Lili Ledy TV ad but I appreciate the crater moonscape nonetheless.

Further to the SpaceX toys I found on You Tube last month, there are some more interesting space toys on this clip of the Mexican toy firm Lili Ledy.

They include Fireball XL5, a Thunderbirds Jet Patrol pod vehicle and Capitan Boy, a same-size version of Billy Blastoff.

CAPITAN BOY BY LILLY LEDY

I have always been a big fan of Eldon's BILLY BLASTOFF. Second only to Major Matt Mason in my bedroom moonbase when I was a kid, Billy was a constant companion and a brave astronaut. My Mum and Dad must have realised we were chums and got me a whole load of different sets in the Sixties like the Frogman and Builder.

 

 

It was and is the Astronaut set that most baby boomers remember though, so I was intrigued when I saw these pictures on Ebay. The toys were quite obviously from the Blastoff gene, but something had gone wrong. They are tiny! Just one and a half inches! Too small for most batteries!

 

 

Digging deeper I found that they were made by Mexico's prolific Lilly Ledy and the Billy baby is called CAPITAN BOY. Cute as a button! I've not been able to find anything more about this toy though. Was he licenced or did Lilly Ledy simply nick him off Eldon and point their miniaturising ray at him?
