And Bill ID'd this! The red carrier goes into the container so it can be lifted off by crane. Of course it does! 

So, that leaves the orange stretcher and the big red truck canopy to still ID.

Ideas?

LOL's BANGIN' CAR

We picked up this for Miss Junior. It's a large LOL plastic car. Very cool, it's got working lights and a huge boot that turns into a trailer.

Like a massive Hot Wheels redline, little Miss loved it too!

One of the biggest plastic cars I’ve come across is the Sindy MGB. At 18 inches long , it’s obviously big enough to fit Sindy in. It’s made from that greasy blow-moulded plastic like the large action man vehicles.

BLUE BOX BYGONES

 Last year I bought on a small fleet of miniature plastic cars, which struck a chord when I saw them.

I recall having similar cars as a kid, especially in construction and garage settings. I think mine came in three-layered window boxes.

These are all by Blue Box and individually numbered on the bases.

Beautiful little things.

BIG PLASTIC CARS: WILL'S JOHNNY SPEED

Hi Woodsy. My favourite of the large plastic cars has always been the Topper Toys Johnny Speed. 

It’s big, battery powered, and came wit a range of accessories. I see that sometimes it is called an E Type Jaguar, but of course it isn’t ! It looks more like a Corvette to me. 

Does anyone know what car it was actually based on ?

EMPIRE OF CARS

Woodsy, attached is a photo I culled from the 'Net of an Empire Plastic Corp. carded set showing the same type of small vehicles as in the RUSH HOUR blog post by Wotan this month.

Also, if I may point out a nice website run by Kent Owen Sprecher which chronicles more of these small vehicles: Toy Soldier HQ (although there's far and away more than just military toys listed)

Kent's site is set up as a sales site and while he does have a lot for sale, it's greatest attribute is the history of many of the companies shown, the overwhelming quantity of the companies listed, and the multitude of photos. It's a bit difficult finding things at times but the search is half the fun.

COMPUTERISED ROLLS ROYCE CORNICHE

I saw this on Adams Auctions and saved the pics. I just love that gold Rolls Royce Corniche. What a beauty! I would have loved that as a kid. I had a few plastic prestige cars like a red stretch Mercedes with luggage in the boot.

Looks like Rolls is computerised. Wonder what it did?

THE ROYAL CAR

 

This is the Maks toy Royal Car, a version of which we have all seen recently on the TV during the sad rituals of the Queen's passing.

The late Queen, here young and comfy in the rear, is waving at her adoring crowds as she has since 1953. The new King Charles will be hoping for just a smidgeon of such devotion I imagine.

I wonder if this is a copy of the actual royal Royce stored on the Royal Yacht Britannia I saw in Edinburgh years ago?

It look likes a splendid plastic toy car and one I would have loved as a kid. I doubt I could afford one now!

ROBOT JET RACER

This is seven inches of sheer design brilliance. I just love this Jet Racer space car. What a body! All very art deco, its just ace. No idea of the maker. What do you think readers?

THE CASE OF THE PLASTIC LIMO

I had this friction plastic limo as a kid. How I loved that little plastic suitcase that slipped neatly in the boot.

PLASTIC SUITCASES AT THE BACK OF TOY CARS

I was looking at some old pictures online of Plastic Rolls Royces and other cars.

Then I remembered!

Suitcases in boots!

Blimey, how I loved those little plastic suitcases!

I recall red  and yellow ones the most, neatly placed in the back of the car boots. Their was always a satisfactory click when you opened them.

You could even put tiny things in there like small paper messages or Major Matt Mason's screwdriver!

I could easily collect old plastic cars if I had the dosh and re-live those glory days opening the boots!

Do you remember those suitcases? Which cars had them? Any piccies? Did other toys have suitcases like trains and planes maybe?

MYSTERY ATTIC TRUCK FIND

I found this in my attic in a pile of old tat and toys.

Its a sort of Jeep or Pick-up style plastic car body. 

It may have been detachable by design as I don't have the chassis.

Anyone know what it is? I don't.

YELLOW ROAD ROLLER

I had to look twice at this. I thought it was a yellow SpaceX Cricket!

Its a lovely little plastic road roller on an auction site.

I loved construction vehicles when I was a kid. Tippers, Cherry Pickers, cement mixers, cones and fencing. Oh, and plastic workers too. Brands like Blue Box and Jimson.

Now this is a toy and a TV series that wholly new to me. I saw it inline on an auction a while back.

I loved toy police cars as a kid so I would have liked this but I don't think this US series was shown here in Blighty.

HASBRO ROAD CREW

One of Moonbase Junior's new recycled acquisitions from his car booting Grandparents is this plastic Road Crew pick-up released by Hasbro in 2003 I think. Not really vintage but it'll do!

Anyone else got any Road Crew toy vehicles?

MYSTERY TONKA DAVE SHOCK WAVE TOY CAR

Been car booting a few times this summer. One toy I picked up was for my Grandson as he loves toy cars. Before he gets his hands on it I thought I'd ask you if you know it.

Its marked TONKA, dated 1983 and made in Japan. The side graphics says Dave Shock Wave. There's a small yellow button n the top of the roof and the rear wheels are much bigger and within a weighted axle.

Here's a picture of the same toy I found on an old auction online.

Anyone know it?
