Teddy's have always been big with kids.
We had Tingha and Tucker this morning courtesy of Century 21 licensing and Gerry Anderson's organisation had more too, namely the Bearandas who drove Stripey the mini and ran the magic toyshop in Candy/ Candy and Andy comics and Annuals.
Just 9d every Wednesday!
Did you have anything to do with Candy and Andy or Tingha and Tucker?
Among countless telly bears here's one I never knew, Teddy Edward, a neat play of words as Teddy is already an Edward. here's an annual I've just freecycled to someone from 1975. By Christmas 1975 I was 15 and dreaming of cuddling girls, not teddies!
Did you know Teddy Edward?
And maybe a much more famous telly teddy is SuperTed, the welsh bear. We used to watch it on S4C in the early 80's with our one year old daughter when we lived across from Puffin Island.
Superted is making a comeback this year by all accounts and his spotty friend too.
Do you remember SuperTed?
Just what is the universal appeal of teddy bears readers? Do you know?
Did you have a teddy?
I've still got the Teddy I had as a small child. He's a white one.
ReplyDeleteAh, that's amazing Kevin. How've you managed to keep him all that time?
DeleteSome of my childhood things survived because my Mum kept them. Teddy was one, a couple of tinplate and plastic toys and my Dinky Ufo toys.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I remember none of 'em. Especially the craziness of Candy and Andy. And I didn't have a Teddy. I did however have a stuffed toy rabbit, which I still have.
ReplyDeletePaddington Bear. When I worked at an up-scale toy shop in the late 1970s, we sold about a gazillion of the plush Paddington Bears. The ones with the rain boots were the most popular. Coolest job ever, by the way!
