It's the Marx set as a Sears 'exclusive', I've been after the 'tanker' for years. I'm pretty sure it was all re-issued in South America about 10/15 years ago? Kent Sprecher's toysoldierhq is the place to try...
'Cisquil'...a toy reissued in bright colours from Mexico!
ive got the red mercury capsule from the set - love the space glider/ferry ship. The Scramble Bug wheels are the 'tanker' that mav refers to, I always thought it was a vehicle, but its intended to be fuel filled wheels in a articulated trailer. Cool stuff.
That is such a cool idea ... having the wheels be the medium. Not sure what a puncture would mean. Thank really would be a blow out! LOL. But the idea itself is interesting.
The British Army actually had a trailer where the wheels were filled with petrol during the last war, the "rotatrailer", designed to be towed by a tank. But the wheels were metal with rubber rims. So its not a totally new idea.

Nice set. I do like the two lil blue vehicles: the 'dozer and the hoist.
ReplyDeleteWas $8.97 a lot of money back then?

ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for that information, Andy. I checked the name, and there's actually a kit of one!
ReplyDeleteIs that a green cyberman, to the centre right? :-o
ReplyDeletehee hee - that cyberman has time-slipped into the wrong set!
ReplyDeleteBtw was Dr. Who shown in the US and Canada?
Trust me ... that Cyberman is as puzzled as you all are.
ReplyDeleteThe Cyberman mold was made about 1952, so that "robot" predates Dr. Who by few years. Sort of makes you wonder who copied who.
