CHECKING OUT THE BATMOBILE

 Continuing with my Batman TV series theme, here's a few photos I have shown before which I took, back in 2015 showing a replica Batmobile on display at Perch Rock , New Brighton at the mouth of the Mersey.

Even for a replica it looked pretty cool.

Would anyone notice if I went for a spin!

Batman and Robin don't look that bright!

And the Joker looks a bit 'tired and emotional'!!

How do you start this thing?

Uh, oh! It's got an anti-theft activator!

I think I'll leave it!

It could be a long drive back to Gotham!

 

Maybe I should have gone for the Batboat!

Seaside Spades

As a kid I mostly had plastic spades made of greenish marbled recycled plastic.

Later I progressed to metal headed spades with a pointed tip like these.

Modern seaside shops carry a new beach spade, a shovel! 

Just think how much sand you could shift with that!

 My Son-in-Law sent me this science clip about an impossible gear.

 I thought it was incredible so I'm posting it here.

Ed's Old Ashtray

Well Woodsy,

I found a decent enough photo of our old ashtray. The photo dates from Christmas of 1963 and I can see where my far-less-than perfect memory got several of the details wrong.

But there you have it anyway. You can just spot it standing to the left of our new, state of the art portable stereo unit.

The ashtray appears in a couple of photos from a few years earlier, but it's much harder discern in those pics.

TO THE BATCAVE!

 

Holy Bat Toy!

Some photos I’ve taken in my McFarlane Classic TV series , Batcave which came out in 2021.

The hinged diorama set, which opens up to 24",  features the Atomic Pile, Batpoles, Bat Computer, Bat Memory Bank, Bat Navigational Aids, and a large assortment of miscellaneous Bat consoles and control panels.

The classic TV series’, Batman, and Boy Wonder, Robin doesn’t come with set, you have to buy the two crime-fighters separately, as well as their Action Figure sized, Batmobile!

Actually, things aren't really in scale with each other. The 6" Figures are a tad too big for the set, and some care is  needed to ease  them into the Batmobile, especially the Batman figure which has the added problem of negotiating around the Bat steering wheel. 

They do fit, though, well, just about! Feel the wind in your cowl, Batman!

"  Ring Commissioner Gordon, or maybe the Secret Service!".

Personally, I think the Batcave diorama, both the figures and the Batmobile look fine, in spite of the scale issues. 

The detail in the McFarlane Batmobile isn't as good as the old Mattel 1:12 scale version,  but it's no deal breaker, and probably a lot cheaper to buy.

The figures look great with plenty of articulation,  and the Batcave has a super backdrop and loads of control banks and panels.

All in all, lots of play value, lots of fun, and all for not a lot of money.

Jason King, Adam Adamant and The Champions DVD's

Adam Adamant Lives did not screen in NZ, and I had never seen it. However it was often referred to, and seemed to be well regarded. It was also mentioned a few times on Moonbase Central, so when I saw a boxed set of the surviving episodes (many were thrown out by the BBC, just as they did with Doctor Who), I bought it. A great, fun series. Very happy with it.

The Champions was a series that did not screen in NZ at the time it was made. It finally arrived, around the late 1970s ? Say a decade or so after it was made. It was clearly an older show by the time it arrived here. Another good series. I managed to pick up a few DVDs with the first ten episodes on them, but then found this boxed set with all 30 episodes, so I snapped it up.

Jason King was a fun series that did screen in NZ. So I knew what I was getting when I got this boxed set. A spin-off from Department S, which I do not have.

Honey West was another series that did not make it to NZ. But after seeing it mentioned a few times on Moonbase Central, I had a look on You Tube, and found some of the episodes. I was so impressed I ordered the DVD set. No one local had the set, so I had to get it from overseas.I have already written this set up for Moonbase, it was 2020.

Fixing toys is heaven for me. Wednesday is my favourite day!
