In need of fresh air to clear the blocked drains left after our colds, caught off Moonbase Junior I might add, the Missus and I frequented two outdoor sales this morning.
There wasn't much at the first, Whitley Bridge Car Boot, along the M62, except for a smart boxed set of TENTE space toys by Denys Fisher. Wonderful but £30 was too much for me to pay.
The second was better, Doncaster Keepmoat Stadium car park.
What I came home with was this box of old model bits for the princely sum of £3!
Among a graveyard of plastic old-timers nestled a terrific find for me, an Aurora Red Knight of Vienna from 1959. Most of the parts seem to be there too. I just need to check its not a modern re-issue and then I can put him back together again! I shall blog this Knight further.
The Missus was chuffed with this ELC wooden farmhouse and outbuildings for the Grandson. Another bargain at £3.
Moonbase Grandson got some modern HotWheels for this Thursday. he even gets his first Batmobile!
5 for £2. Is that good? There were literally hundreds of these die-cast cars at both car boot sales. Are they the ones for sale carded in supermarkets like Tesco? Does anyone collect them?
I nearly also succumbed to an action figure again as an old friend winked at me from underneath a pile of modern heros, the DC Comic Super Heroes Hawkman from 1990.
I love this figure, its so grand and angelic. I've had a few in my time when I tried to collect the series at car boots in the 1990's at the start of my toy obsession.
I gave Hawkeye a wistful nod lead on his table and walked by this time round though.
Here's the fella on Ebay. Note the jointed knees ....
...which distinguish him at a glance from his older incarnation by Kenner as part of their iconic 1984 Super Powers line, perhaps the single greatest action figure range ever. I adored seeing entire loose sets on display at the NEC memorabilia show.
Here's a pic of Kenner's Hawkeye offa Ebay.
Have you picked up a bargain recently readers?
I just found out today about TENTE space toys, apparently the Space Lego designer went over to work for them back in the 70's. I arrived a bit late to your post but I have been reading your blogs on and off since 2007.
