MULTIPLE TOYMAKERS' MULTIPLE HORSES

 Ever since we got Waddington's Battle of the Little Big Horn Board Game at home in the Sixties I've liked seeing white toy horses.

One such white horse I liked featured in the Planet of the Apes Target set, one of those wonderful blister rack toys by Multiple ToyMakers of the USA. When I could afford it I bought a set at the NEC show. I was thrilled but it was a pretty penny I can tell you. 

I no longer have my set but here's an auction example of the Planet of the Apes Target Set complete with Multiple's house style trotting white horse. Have you ever seen a more wonderful rack toy!

The explosion of fabulous TV shows in the Seventies like POTA garnered more toy horses and here's another from Multiple's growing stable, the Kung Fu Target Set. I imagine Kwai Chang Kane did ride a horse. He was in the Wild West after all!

You can't tie a good horse up and here's two, yes two, in Multiple's Lone Ranger and Tonto Target Set. This time the horses come in different shades.

Never a company to miss a trick Multiple re-issued and re-used everything. After all they were called Multiple Toymakers. Here's the Lone Ranger boxed up to the max in their 1971 Lone Ranger train set. Somewhere in there is our white horse [other box sets were issued for Planet of the Apes and Kung Fu too! Well of course they were!]

It would make sense that the white horse was trotting around from the start.

Here it is in Multiple's Wagons pack, which I assume is from the Sixties, though I'm not sure.

Similarly here's a neddy in 4 Wagons of the West, which sounds like a film title! One of the coaches is called a Surrey, which I never knew. I used to live in Surrey here in England!

if you weren't satisfied with one or two horses you get multiple steeds in a bag too!

That's enough white horses for one Sunday morning. Needless to say this is but a brief canter around Multiple Toymaker's vast saddlery and I'm aware there are countless variations, in particular the Wild West and the Lone Ranger. Maybe you have some?

Gerry Anderson Little Golden Books

Here is a short You Tube look at the Little Golden Books versions of Supercar (1962) and Fireball XL5 (1964), published in the USA.

Little Golden Books were small, 24 page hardbacks, with a black and gold spine. Full colour illustrations for young readers.

A good reference on these books is Collecting Little Golden Books, Steve Santi, Krause Publications, 5th Edition 2003. Mostly black and white, with only a few colour pages. 560 pages. Apart from the normal LGB, there was also a Supercar Cut-out Coloring Book.

Second-Hand Saturday

It's Saturday so that means forgetting work Ang going rummaging in charity shops.

Here's some of the items the Missus and me saw on the shelves.

This plastic Halloween doorbell is called Spooky Jime! £1.

This eerie winged creature is a mystery. Anyone recognize it?

The green plane is marked B&M, the chain store.

These old Goldilocks cubes were quaint. £5.

Vintage camera are always in evidence. Here's one I remember my Parents had when I was a kid.

Likewise I recall curvy glass vases like this back home back in the day. Do you?

This board game looks like an Italian version of Ludo.

And this tea and coffee set screamed Lady Penelope! Is that her famous intercom tea pot?

This plastic salter looked spacey too.

Lots of really old toys around today like a wooden pram. £30.

Not that old and something I've bought and sold before, the Gormiti plastic mountain. The Missus bagged it for our Grandson.

Finally, my own purchase. This basket of die-casts. £10.

Back at base here they are lined up.

The Siku crane and Super Kings truck and trailer are in great Nick. Just the tailgate missing from the latter.

Our Grandson has a plastic version of the crane. It would make a great SpaceX vehicle!

Can you spot it in the boy's arms?

THE 007 ASTON MARTIN VALHALLA

Hot Wheels included the Aston Martin Valhalla Concept car from the James Bond movie No Time To Die in their 2022 line. 

It is part of the Screentime series of film and TV models, model number 6 of 10 in the series.

This is a modified version of the model released in 2021, in a couple of Hot Wheels premium lines. These had metal bases, but the 2022 Mainline model has some changes to the casting, and a plastic base.

Black and silver, with tinted windows, and tampo-printed lights.

The card (front and back) describes the model as the Aston Martin Valhalla Concept, but the model itself just says Aston Martin Valhalla. Copyright date 2021, Made in Malaysia.

The top left hand corner of the card has two different Bond logos. One for No Time To Die, and the other for 60 Years of Bond. That clearly refers to the Bond movies (Dr No came out in 1962), as the character first appeared in the book Casino Royale in 1953.

Swinging in the Rain

It's crackers what you see in charity shops. I had a double-take when I saw this strange object, a samurai sword handled umbrella!

Having enjoyed Scoops recent Steed Swordstick post I just had to check if there was a sword inside the canopy!

Nope but what an odd brolly it is.

Plastic Games of the Sixties

Back in the day childhood was full of brilliant games and sets.

There were so many in the Sixties I find it hard to remember them all.

Fascination was one. Two players each got a plastic hand-held maze tray and the first to get a ball bearing to the end would light up a small light on a stand. Oh what fun! Fascination sums up my tender years and I still have a set.

Crossfire was one too. A huge table-top game, in which steel balls were fired at a rolling puck. The balls were loaded into plastic pistols. I remember playing it so much with mates that zi got a blister on my inner trigger finger! I still have a board but no other equipment.

Casdon Soccer was another game I liked. Endorsed by Bobby Charlton, it was a sort of subbuteo on a plastic pitch. Instead of flicking each player twisted knobs to make ruddered players turn and kick. Great fun and a tough chunk of plastic, which has easily survived right up to press. I've owned a few.
