For anyone who's pre-ordered these two new items of Space: 1999 merchandise, Anderson Entertainment have announced that they now have their exclusive Eagle models in stock.
They also have plans to release even more versions next year.
Not having seen one in the flesh yet, I can't say how they'll compare with the excellent Sixteen 12 die-casts, or even the less impressive Eaglemoss models.
Hopefully, I'll get the chance soon.
They are the Eaglemoss models repainted, with a slight change to the engine piping and the addition of the launch pad base. Article here: https://catacombs.space1999.net/main/merc/vmmeagleae.html . Unfortunately way to expensive for me at £124.99 and I already have the Eaglemoss lab Eagle anyway which cost a much less £59.99 in 2021. They also plan to bring out a Thunderbird 2 next year.
ReplyDeleteI've heard the speculation from others about these being repackaged Eaglemoss models, Yorkie, although A.E. appear to have been quite coy about mentioning it.
DeleteI got all my Eaglemoss examples during their many flash sales and never paid the full price for any. Even so, I did have to send one back as it suffered from really bad quality control issues.
If they are indeed just repainted Eaglemoss models they certainly aren't worth £125.00! People would be better investing in a Sixteen 12 model.
I've only seen one photo of their Thunderbird 2, but I'm beginning to think that might just be a repackaged Atlas Editions version that was given away in 2017?
Hmmm, those winch module and pallet versions are hard to justify buying both. I'd hope there were some cargo modules for the pallet to make up for the lack of detail!
ReplyDeleteNot being an Alpha Eagle expert, were cargo modules ever featured in the actual show?
Pallet Eagles carrying nuclear cannisters, and Winch Eagles both featured in the opening episode of Space:1999, Lewis.
