As a kid in the '70s, I had a 1/32 scale Airfix Alvis Stalwart, Scoop. Not a model kit, but pre-built and ready for carpet combat. I always liked the look and design.
I bought a plastic friction drive one a few years ago, that I converted into an Anderson style vehicle. It was in military green before I changed it. The chap in the shop who sold it to me said he had a real one for sale if I was interested. I decided that perhaps, I'd better not!
We had one of those Matchbox Stalwarts! Same colors and stickers too.
ReplyDeleteThe black wheels came off the hubs though.
You see a lot missing their tyres and yellow cover, Scott.

ReplyDeleteI had one of those myself, Tony, they were made from that oily plastic if memory serves.

ReplyDeleteWow, that would look impressive up the drive, not sure what you'd get to the gallon though.I wonder what happened to it?
DeleteI checked what it does to the gallon -4.5 mpg! The tank takes 90 gallons!
DeleteProbably still goes further than an electric car!
