Browsing the brilliant Alphadrome, something I've done for years, I came across this space toy gun.
Space Captain Dart Gun.

The toy looks great but its the card art that really caught my eye.
Just what is happening with that robot? It's full of little red robots who appear to be working the big one! They have thin arms and pincers. Its such an unusual image. I love it!
The spaceman is firing at the head and the mini-men seem to be up in arms about it!
Have you seen any other artwork like this readers?
Sorry to burst your bubble helmet, but this is another art theft! The original robot is Bunda the Great from the old Gold Key Magnus Robot Fighter comics!

BTW this is a wonderfully cinematic comic!
ReplyDeleteSPOILERS... Bunda has armoured panels that slide up and extend spikes to protect his Control Robs. He charges Magnus on the edge of a Himalayan mountain. Magnus drops and judo flips him over the edge!
On the way down, Bunda regrets he doesn't have built-in anti gravity units...
SQUEEEEEE!!!
Yep, Lewis is spot on with that answer! Magnus is one of the comics I collected as a kid. Always a fave of mine.
ReplyDeleteYep, you guys beat me to it. I was going to post the link, but there it is already! Good Job, Lewis!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. Magnus looks amazing!
