Hi
Here is another 60s Child item from You Tube, called Made in Hong Kong.
It covers, mainly with photos, many plastic toys of the 1960s that were made in Hong Kong. Doll manufacture was a pretty gruesome business judging from the introduction.
I did have one of the cap-firing rockets (shown at 3:43) that you dropped on to a hard surface to detonate it, but mine was red and silver. The Dawn Patrol set of WW1 aeroplanes (at 5:38) is also interesting, there were two movies of this title, in 1930 and 1938.
I also had some of the toy animals, but I think mine would have been bought loose, rather than in a set ?

What a Technicolor explosion of nostalgia! Thanks for sharing Paul.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind to have those frogmen sets or those adorable flicker rings, many others too. Last summer I came across that Topo Gigio figure (at 6:08), a delicate little thing. Many parts that could have easily been lost in children's play.
That is a flimsy Gigio Arto! Nice find! I had some toys made of the same soft plastic as a kid. I think one was a bell-shaped shoulder bag.
DeleteGreat video. Had some of this stuff, including the biplanes. I think not everything was Hong Kong- spotted a "Made in Japan" on a cap bomb, and some of the smaller planes were probably form a Marx (I think) set- although may have originated in Hong Kong.
ReplyDeleteFilm's a great find with lots of plastic packed memories. Thanks for sharing it here, Paul.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Amazing what you can find on You Tube with a little digging.
