I picked this little lot up at a car boot sale recently.
Supe and Spidey are holding up an old Rockets and Jets book.
The old Playmobil bundle appears to be made up of different sets from the 1980's. The figures are marked 1974 on their soles.
I do rather like Playmobil and we have a lot of it for Moonbase Junior.
Do you like it?
Never mind the toys, enjoy the book.
ReplyDeleteMy parents bought me that book from a Woolworth store back in the 50's. The imagery by Jack Coggins is burnt into my memory especially the outer space illustrations.
The main reason for the purchase was the book explains the German V1 and V2 weapons that my parents had survived living in London throughout WW2.
I remember my father showing me the V2 rocket in The Imperial War Museum and seeing the size of it. The panel where the trigger mechanism was located was open and full of spider webs!
Were the fiendish Germans depending on provoking British arachnophobia?
Obviousy spy-ders Terran! It it a wonderful book and Coggin's dark style is thrilling. The spine's been stuck back on on this copy.
DeleteA lovely mixed bag of goodies there, Woodsy. Yes, I really like Playmobil. Such a variety of imaginative sets, figures and accessories. They're so robust as well. Wish I'd have had Playmobil as a nipper. I picked up a couple of large passenger planes and a control tower at a carboot while ago. I plan to introduce my grandkidz to them when they're a little bit older.
ReplyDeleteI agree Tone, Playmobil's variety is amazing. Me and the Missus have had great fun over the last 5 years finding Playmobil toys at boot sales for Junior. We found a bus, a boat, a plane and my favourite, an ambulance. Lots of figures and accessories as well. Hours of fun and that's just for the grandparents!
DeleteHave you seen this, Woodsy - Playmobil Star Trek -

Yes I've caught this too, trying to convince my wife it would be a good "family" purchase!!
DeleteI like your thinking, MJ :D

DeleteThat Playmobil Enterprise is just ace! Thanks for sharing! It amazes me how these bog companies like PM and Lego and Hot Wheels can get hold of all these licenses to do stuff like this. I suppose they have the dosh to do it. Lovely toy, one to 'kling on' to!
DeleteIve got Coggins book too, very dark, brooding illustrations and its partly what informed my recent Space Odditys pic too! Playmobil is a brilliant toy, up there with Lego for durability, value and playability. That looks like quite a substantial parachute too, id have that straight out in the garden!
ReplyDeleteYeah Coggin's book is fab Wote. I thought you'd have it in your vast space library!
DeleteA very good bundle Woodsy.
ReplyDeletePlaymobil are great toys. Got my son a lot of them when he was a kid, including the helicopter (ours was red).
The two superheroes, also a decent find, but the Rocket book's the star for me. Would like it myself.
Yes, I've seen that red version online Mish. They are great toys and so durable. There's always some Playmobil at car boot sales. One of my fave finds is a really old astronaut with his silver radio.
DeleteDear Woodsy,
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany.
Nice find. I got the same Helicopter in yellow. By the way, the parachute-like net is a cargo net in fact to be attached to the hook on the heli's belly. The white/red round container is for fire extinguishing but some little ropes are missing to be able to attach it to the hook. 1974 is the patent year because Playmobil was launched then. Most of the little guys seem to be from the mid-eighties since they all have the turnable hands. Except the white/red hairless one, which probably is from the seventies. The turnable hands were available from 1982 onwards. Do you know this site? http://www.playmodb.org/playmodb.shtml
It's a very helpful British site if you are searching for spare part codes, for example.
The Playmo NCC 1701 is really a star but beyond any justifiable pricing (499 Euro in Germany). As of today Playmobil sells another classic in Germany: the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 - Goldfinger Edition (https://www.playmobil.de/online-shop/sale/movie-cars)
Best regards
Biggop (apologies for my bad English)
Hi Biggop, thanks for stopping by. You're clearly very knowledgable about Playmobile and thanks for sharing your insights. I do love the toys but know very little about them. That site you linked is amazing, like a proper ID site, which it is! Thanks! I'll check out the NCC and the DB5 as well and look out for them! PS. Your English is excellent!
