Sorry no spacey biscuit tins. I do have a couple from ancient times that have been around as far back as I remember. Also got sweetie tins from Sharps that we had at Xmas late 60s/early 70s. Again no spacey ones (budgies and dogs?). At least I had the big packs of Captain Scarlet sweet cigarettes Xmas time.
Sharps tins were fabulous. So many shapes and pictures. I remember a block of toffee too that came with a small metal hammer to smash it up! As for sweet ciggies, they were the best!
No, Wally Wood was a legendary comic artist for EC Comics, as well as Marvel and others. Walter Howarth painted a couple of the jigsaws, but I believe Arrow also used film poster art for a couple of others. Jump over to my blog and type 'Walter Howarth James Bond Paintings...'
Speaking of sweeties, does anyone remember getting 4 blackjack/fruit salads for 1d and then when decimilisation came in they were 8 for 1p for a while before going down to 6 for 1p and then 4 for 1p ?
I remember the sweets and adored them, especially one of each in my gob at once! Don't recall the decimalization shenanigans at all soz. Wonder how much they are now?

DeleteI've got a retro tin Fireball XL5 school 'tuck box', illustrated by Wallace Wood.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Is he the artist that did the James Bond arrow jigsaw art Kid?

DeleteFrank McCarthy was the artist on the other two, which were the poster art used on Thunderball.
DeleteThanks Kid. Very informative. One of my best finds at a car boot sale was a mint Arrow James Bond Thunderball jigsaw!
