Whilst Junior's away from Moonbase I've been checking out his treasures.
Two things brought the memories flooding back like Sarsaparilla pop!
The Smartie tube cap with the letter underneath and the box of fossils with a shark's tooth.
Wow, that took me back, that shark's tooth! I adored fossils as a young paleontologist and loved getting gifts of crinoids or ammonites.
Here's a few.
Were you fossilised?
Never collected fossils as a kid but have gone fossil hunting on the Jurrassic coast in recent years, quite enjoyed it. Nothing rare, but lots of amenities and belemnites were found!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go there Kev. Sounds like you had fun!
Delete"Ammonites"! Though there are amenities to be found nearby too.
ReplyDeleteha ha, I never even noticed! I have the same issue with anemones!
DeleteHave you got that Dinosaur book?
ReplyDeleteYep. Love that series. Prehistoric Mammals is another classic with the mighty Mammoth. The cover is a work of art!
DeleteI only ever had a few of the How and Why books, but they were very good. The range of subjects covered was vast. Very educational. Well worth doing a post on.
ReplyDeletewow! my dad has had the book 'fossil man'and the entire serie of those books.. and my son was interested to fossils and mineral when he was younger!ew :)
ReplyDeleteThey are a brilliant series EW. I had a few too: witchcraft, guns, natural history. Your son sounds just like I was! A young paleontologist!
