Its been a good couple of weeks for finding a few vintage bits.
Last Sunday me and the Missus and Moonbase Junior visited the local Scammel gathering. It was packed with real vintage cars, caravans, tractors and trucks, as well as autojumble stalls.
Among the jumble I found these old figures. I recognised them as vintage Star Wars but only two were familiar, but at £1 for all three I swept them up and flew to the Dagobah system.
Just who was the plastic chap at the back? A Hoth Luke?
Nope, despite its Hothian body warmer and Doctor Spock looks, the third man turned out to be a .... farmer with a milk churn!
Moonbase Junior claimed the milk man for his farm.
I did wonder though, do they drink milk in Star Wars?
Nestling among some more auto flotsam I also found this small plastic spaceship.
I believe it to be a copy of the Supersonic Jetmobile by Gilmark.
According to Alphadrome, copies like this were made by Poplar Playthings of Wales.
What do you think?
Yesterday we visited Wetherby and Rufforth Park car boot sales. The former is excellent, while the latter was not for us.
Driving down the M62 to get to Wetherby we followed a long rally of zooming sports cars like Ferrari's, Maserati's and Aston Martins.
We joined the back for about a second before they all whizzed off like Hot Wheels. My fave had to be an orange sports car with circular rear lights and a large GT emblem between them. Alas, I didn't see the marque.
They were most likely joining the classic car show at Tadcaster.
At Wetherby car boot my Missus found this old soft plastic squeaky giraffe, which she believes to be a vintage Sophie by Delacoste of France.
and I found this intriguing die-cast boat, which turns out to be a Smurf speed boat from 1995 released by Toy Island. Its really well made and quite heavy.
Other toys and stuff spotted were a box Evel Knevel Scramble Van in damaged box [£40], loose Action Man Jeep and Scorpion Tank by Palitoy, vintage Ghost Train and fairground signs and much more that I just can't remember!
As always we bought a few modern Hot Wheels for Moonbase Junior's growing fleet.
Have you been to a sale recently?
Just yesterday, a jolly event although no finds this time. Feels like a start of summer!
ReplyDeleteThat Poplar spaceship is one ace discovery Woodsy, quite surprising really that you can still come across such finds at other than toy fairs.
I know. I was surprised Arto. It was next to a real hair action man with both gripping hands melted off! I do like Autojumble!
