Its not often you see a parachutist dart gun.
I saw this on the Bay ages ago and thought it was quite a neat idea. Makes sense!
I really like the toy pistol. It sort of reminds me if the Century 21 Joe 90 toy gun that I had as a kid.
Did you have any parachute or dart gun toys readers or any Joe 90 pistols?
What a great find! Grab a seat for a tale as the memories come back from the sight of this rather unique shaped gun. I owned a version of this that shot a grenade, had a silencer and I think some small red and gold bullets. Not too clear on if it actually shot them or just came with them. Mine was black with a white trigger. Here is a closeup of a different color of the gun, probably the exact same mold used for the one above https://www.ebluejay.com/img/account/b/e/Beastor/1/9f0f9d7.jpg
ReplyDeleteIn my search for a black version and jostled by the markings on the green one, I ran into this picture http://www.007collector.com/bond/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/secret-agent-707-box-set.jpg yep, a Secret Agent 707 set. I'm not sure I had this exact set but I do recall having most of it except the binoculars, camera and small pistol so maybe I had a knock off of a knock off.
I had quite a few dart guns as a kid, so many I don't recall all of them. Had a shotgun that shot those little yellow rubber balls, the standard disc gun I think every kid had.
The James Bond toys I recall having for certain was the Mauser c96 here http://www.toysofbond.co.uk/Images/guns_9mm_sub_machine_gun.jpg which was rather small and did not shoot the bullets very far. I also had the far superior range and power Baretta shown here http://www.007collector.com/bond/wp-content/uploads/1984/10/itc_dart-gun-352x550.jpg
My favorite guns though, and I still have 2 of them, were the Marx Tommy Guns, the original long version. Here is a pic (not of mine) https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-ScRNWUEObo/maxresdefault.jpg and a prototype that was to reuse the mold/leftover stock http://danefield.com/alpha/forums/uploads/post-439-0-85958000-1406748589.jpg
Fab tales of ammo Lance. A classic armoury of childhood. I wonder if theres a book on toy guns? Ive got Zap about ray guns. You should write one! The 007 connection is fascinating and I love the 707 set. I had the similar Blue Box set in a case which was on sale here up to about 1992. That lunar rifle is a bobby dazzler. Never seen that before. I had a tommy gunn as well as a kid. An incredible sound!
DeleteI do love chutes. One of the simplest toys in the world, I used to make them all the time for Matt Mason, rubber monsters and random space capsules. The Quercetti series of catapult rockets were a favourite, blasting them up into the air over a field and watching as the mechanism popped the body open to deliver the mission safely back to earth. I had the Joe 90 dart gun too, with the three plastic targets, man/tank/jet. Lost the damn dart down a grid at school!
ReplyDeleteNot that school again! there's more Century 21 spare parts there than at Sandown Toy Fair! Guess what though, I never had a Quercetti Bill!
