At a fleamarket this weekend I was tempted by a bundle of old action dolls. Basically it was a an old shoebox containing a Red Sleeves figure and four Matchbox Fighting Furies figures.
None were complete as far as I could see and some Furies' limbs were detached and maybe missing.
I had to look up Red Sleeves. Its part of the Gabriel Lone Ranger series from the mid-Seventies.
At forty pounds for the lot I passed and moved on.
What would you have done?
Postscript!
Here's New Jersey reader Brian with his gang of Fighting Furies! The big guy is Brian!
I might have bought the lot for parts. My Furies could all use swords, hats and I would check Pegleg's stump for the ever missing map. Also, my Ghost Pirate needs a new foot.I have a Butch Cavendish around here somewhere,so the Red Sleeve guy might have found a home too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean about parts Brian. I was tempted but forty pounds, about $52, is a lot for me to fork out at a fleamarket. I did end up spending a little on a few nice items like a Steve Scout figure though!
DeleteDeja Vu!The same box that I had my Fighting Furies in also contained a Craig Cub figure!I would have went broke at this sale!
DeleteCraig Cub? Is he Kenner too Brian? Just posted your pics on the blog Thanks!
DeleteNice vintage bootie find, but perhaps over priced due to damaged figures. I would've passed on that one as well. I can't place Steve Scout figure though, Woodsy? :)
ReplyDeletejust popped him on the blog Tone. There's a whole catalogue of Steve Scouts on Plaidstallions.
DeleteThanks for posting, I'll take a look at Steve Scout. I also see Brian's got the elusive Ghost of Captain Kidd, Woodsy... a tricky and desirable one from that range to find. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, have a look at Steve Scout online Tone. I may have had one of these figures before years ago. Don't think the Ghost of Cap Kidd was in that car boot shoe box I picked up. Think I would remember him!
