I remember all the Saturday morning cartoons back in the Sixties and early Seventies - you know, Danger Island, Spider-Man, Shazzan, Marine Boy, Space Kidettes and so on. There were so many!
But what about Saturday tea time? I really can't recall anything except my old Dad watching the Football Pools and ticking off his Littlewoods sheet.
Was there anything on for kids Saturday tea time in your neck of the woods?
Depends what you count as tea time I suppose but Doctor Who leaps to mind.
ReplyDeleteI suppose 5 'o'clock Kev. What time was the Doc on? 6?
DeleteI think it was somewhere between 5 & 6 but I'm not really sure.
ReplyDeleteI think it was near 6'ish. Maybe after the sport and news? Rushing to see Doctor Who once cost me a lot. My brother had shouted ' Doctor Who's on, hurry up' just as I was in the loo. I zipped up far too fast and ... yep, it was caught. And I mean caught. My Dad cut round the offending zipper for some reason and took me to hospital with a square of denim attached to my you know what! What came next brought tears to my eyes and involved a large hyperdermic! Needles to say I was off Secondary School for a fortnight! Ouch! It became known as The Dickler Experience in our house after a racehorse famous at the time! I blame the Doctor!
