This is the Thunderbird 4 model that comes with issue 3 of
DeAgostini’s UK trial run of the ‘Build Your Own Thunderbird 2’ collection.
Like their previous Master Elevator Car model it’s more or less
exactly the same as the 1/144 scale Takara version , complete with a tiny
Gordon Tracy sat in a detailed cabin.
Here it is compared to the Hotwheels version, part of the
Aoshima 1/200 scale TB2 pod vehicle collection.
In Issue 4 there’s a set of tiny 1/144 scale Tracy Brothers.
The Build your own
TB2 set which has already been released in Japan and has been running for some
time, has been having a test run here in the UK.
Unfortunately, the series has now been suspended until further
notice, although as this was simply a trial run this is not totally unexpected,
and there has been unconfirmed speculation on social media that the series will
continue later in the year.
The good news is that for anyone who did go to the trouble
to subscribe will now get the first five issues published for the test absolutely
free, as thanks for their enthusiasm and support. The final fifth issue is a
mail away.
This is the look of the assembled Thunderbird 2 model parts
provided so far which gives a reasonable idea of what to expect should the
series continue.
There’s an illuminated cabin which already has its LED’s
fitted at the back, and a detailed missile bay.
While some people have complained about the shape and the overall cost, it would seem most collectors would be happy if it got the go ahead .I for one hope it gets a full UK release.
Beautiful shots Scoop. Good luck with the whole project. i think they call these types of magazines partworks don't they?
ReplyDeleteHi, does anyone have a single Thunderbird 4 hotwheels Diecast for sale or the complete rescue set 2 for sale if the set is reasonable priced.
ReplyDeleteJust out of interest was Thunderbird 4 ever issued as a single model from hotwheels or only ever part of the full set of rescue vehicles?
Any info would be very much appreciated.
