This lot appeared on the Vectis auction site in 2012. What a fabulous description it sounds! There's tons on interesting stuff in there: Funmate space sets and Space Attack for example. Wonder who was lucky enough to get this bundle?
I've highlighted one thing, Hong Kong plastic.... that caught my eye, in red below - anyone any idea what that might be?
Also, in the large picture, to the right there is a "Thunder Ball" box with a space-helmeted boy on the front. Is that image from a film? What is that toy? I've focused in on it below.
Also, what is the toy pictured above with a green base and a red top of some kind?
You can see the images more clearly on the original here at Vectis

That will likely be a Space Exploring window box by LP, 704 series.
ReplyDeleteDunno how many sets there are in the series, but at least three because I have 704C. Each set has the standard orange rocket and three astronaut figures plus one further vehicle. Set 704C has a mini-MMM Crawler. Ed has 704A which has a Mercury capsule. Header on the box shows cartooney boy and girl in spacesuits floating around.
You've had pics of these sets on the blog before, but unfortunately amongst many other pics in one post, so it's hard to point one out...
Hope this helps -- Paul
Thanks a bunch Paul. You so know your LP's! Are you going to have a section on LP on your own site?
DeleteCount on it, Woodsy. It's just waiting for a friend to measure up his larger LP toys and then that section will as finished as I can get it. (It will be missing the large red astronaut toy because I don't know anybody that has one to photograph, but maybe that'll sort itself out one day).

Just remind me Paul, what's the large red astronaut? The robot with the thimble hat?
DeleteHat I can't remember off-hand... The one on his belly with arms forward toting a pair of guns. I thought one of our friends had one but turns out he didn't. Pic off the net is all we have and I don't use those. (not the end of the world, one will turn up someday).

I know the one, its holding Action Man flare guns in its hands! I bet Cookie has one.
DeleteI thought they looked like Playmobil pirates' pistols. :)
DeleteAnd no, sadly he doesn't...
