A number of years back Hawk books complied a series of lavish collectable editions featuring a complete year or so of vintage Dan Dare Eagle comic reprints.
Each year at Christmas time I would receive one of those books in my stocking, and even though Hawk books have long since ceased this tradition I still feel an association with Dan Dare and Christmas.
I suppose considering the Eagle comic's strong Christian morals I think that's quite apt.
So for any Dan Dare fans out there this Christmas Eve, who maybe feel the same as me here's a seasonal Dan Dare strip story taken from the 1955 Eagle Annual No. 5.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Really excellent! Thanks for posting this. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteThe art is actually by Desmond Walduck, based on roughs by Frank Hampson's team. Walduck drew an excellent Digby, but his Dan Dare is not as good as the main team's depiction of Colonel Dare.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas one and all. Wanted to stop by to tell you how much I love your blog. Seems like everytime I do a search on a toy I'm interested, and least one of the photos will be from here. Also, thanks for the shout-out early to my own blog.
