Hi Woodsy, the Marx vehicles are named in this picture from an old toy mag.
CS
Woodsy says: thanks a lot CS. Coincidentally, Toad recently shared the whole article with me, which was fascinating. Here's a piccy of the relevant issue, #35 from 1995 in case anyone wants to track it down. It would appear from the Plastic Figure and Playset Collector Magazine Website that back issues are still available!
I'd like to get the space glider and the big balloon treed trailer...
ReplyDeleteWoodsy, I've been having problems with my e-mail and was wondering if the Marx Galaxy Command pics came your way? Also, I got my first 4 SpaceX items: Base Patrol Cricket P1, Helicopter P3, Explorer Mev 2, and Supply Force Mercury [I also got a Hot Wheels Batmobile but that's a whole other line of interest :-) ]These things are a whole lot smaller than I envisioned them! I honestly thought thaey would be at least twice the size. However, that being said they are still neat and are still 'in scale' to many of the other space toys I have.
ReplyDeleteHi Ed,
DeleteYep, got your Galaxy Command email, thanks. I've not been around a great deal the last few days. Gardening duties at my Daughter's house over Easter! I'm glad your Spacex arrived. They are small aren't they. When I was a kid in the 60's Spacex and SWORD toys were always out being played with in my bedroom. Spacex zoomed around the bigger SWORD like the pod vehicles in Thunderbirds! You could try to have a look for the US versions of your Spacex toys, the Golden Astronaut series by Multiple Toymakers, some of which had different names: P3 Helicopter is Security Patrol Copter and MEV2 is the Prospector. Any pics always welcomed!
Thanx for the info on the US versions Woodsy. I'll be looking for those as well. Now that I know what size range these are, it opens the door for other purchases. I had several on watch on eBay which I thought was too small, now I'll have to re-think that. Ya know what would look good with these? The old Premier Plastics Flah Gordon space ships! They made several variations in different sizes. I think the medium sized ones - about 5"L - would go great with these.
ReplyDeleteSounds like great fun Ed. Get those little space toys all mixed up and see what happens. Oh and any snaps of your combinations are always welcome on the blog!
