THE SPY WHO DUNKED ME!

 

I had to laugh when I saw my new but unyielding Corgi Lotus Esprit in a jug of water.

Like many old dirty die-casts I get at Moonbase it all starts with a good dunking.

Seeing the Esprit in the soapy water I immediately thought of that famous scene in The Spy Who Loved Me.

With a toy or two, have you any famous film scenes to hand readers?

A CENTURY 21 PROP SHOP?

I read this today on DVD talk. It mentions an old Century 21 Prop shop at Pinewood. Anyone know what that was?

Good review of Journey. When I lived in London years ago I took a trip out to Pinewood and walked through the Century 21 prop shop. They had some really cool stuff in there. While I was there someone mentioned the 'teleconference scene'. Apparently they had problems with getting the monitors to sync, so they gave up and put people on stools behind the flats with holes cut for the screens. They put some mesh to fuzz up the picture, and presto... teleconference! Best, Mel

GORGO POSTSCRIPT: ADDED SAUCE!

I came across this item on You Tube, where the American reviewer looks at the differences between the Gorgo film and the Monarch Books paperback. 

I had read that Monarch's book on Gorgo, and presumably Konga and Reptilicus, added some risque scenes to spice the books up a bit. 

According to this review, which includes quotes from the book, it was 'spiced up' more than a bit!

QUICKMIX SUNDAY

I picked a few toys up at a Sunday sale last weekend.

The large 12" figure is a talking Thunderbirds Hood from Vivid in the 90's. More to come on this.

Hoody was joined by a lovely Speed Kings Fire Chief car and a stubbornly unresponsive Corgi Esprit.

 

Polar Mission Man came out of the 90's cold too.

A 60's Brutus, the Palitoy Mountie mutt, wasn't too impressed with him.

This 70's Zee Motorbike was a snip at 10 pence!

Maybe my best buy at just one Pound was this First Generation Transformer from 1987 called Quickmix.

This 10 pence box figure stumped me.

Last but not least, this little fella said Halo and jumped on board.

THE LOST QUATERMASS

Only now am I discovering that there are three lost episodes of the original 1950's BBC serial The Quatermass Experiment. I really didn't know this. Reading up it would seem that owing to poor film stock the first two episodes were not very good quality themselves - an insect landing on the camera screen of one - and the remaining three episodes now missing completely.

I know I have a BBC Quatermass series on a 1980's/90's BBC VHS video cassette. I assume it must only be episodes one and two.

Does anyone know anymore about these missing episodes?

I think some of these old vending gifts are Kaiju from Japanese films but I'm not sure. What do you think readers?

LOOKING FOR JOE 90!

I'm not sure if readers also read the website for Anderson Entertainment, but there is a national 'search' going on to find the former voice actor of Joe 90, one Len Jones.

Len was a young actor in the Sixties and besides doing the voice of Joe he appeared in films like Spring and Port Wine.
