TOLKIEN'S HOUSE

I read today that JRR Tolkien's Oxford home, where he wrote Lord of the Rings, is up for sale.

It's on the market at £4.5million.

Various celebs and actors who starred in LOTR are clubbing together to create the start of a crowdfund to buy the place.

Their vision is to create a Tolkien centre for the study of his work and vision in the very place he penned them.

ROB'S AOSHIMA FIRE SEVEN

Here is my latest Japan SF vehicle, another obscure “Future Car” by Aoshima, called Fire Seven, and part of their Mighty Patrol series, released in the early 1970s I think.

Although the box art tries valiantly to make it look like some sort of military vehicle, it’s just a cute little space-aged sports car, with no visible weapons. 

I decided to leave the body in it’s molded plastic color, because I knew it would be tough for me to achieve that groovy yellow-orange with my shaky airbrushing skills. 

So now it looks like a beautiful toy you might have seen in the clearance bin of your local toy shop during the Apollo era, don’t you think?

Aoshima reissued the Mighty Patrol series at some point under the label “Dream Cars,” with different box art. Enjoy!

I'VE NEVER SEEN KRULL

 

I've never seen Krull.

I see the seemingly iconic claw thrower allover when I see Krull posters and stuff.

And here too, on this display box of Krull card games from back in the day.

I'm always fascinated how B-movies manage to get merchandised and in what form. Licences can go to all sorts of companies. This looks like Parker I think.

Still, I've no idea what the film was about so I'd be rubbish at the card game!

A PERFECT LIQUID

I heard on the radio that scientists have created the perfect fluid, a quantum material with stellar properties. Scientists believe that stars contain perfect liquids in their cores.

No idea really what this is but I liked the sound of it. I wonder if it could be made into a toy like flubber?

TOTEM GESTURE

I saw these modern Trash Pack containers online. In fact I think my grandson has some as part of of his Gross-ery Gang pile of toys and figures made by Moose.

The little plastic trash cans remind me of an old line of plastic totem pole connectables.

You can see one at the bottom of this vending pack in yellow with the monster face. Dunno what they're called.

I did something similar but less specific a few years ago when I was in Norfolk with Missus Moonbase. It was fun to do though and quite creepy!
