MY SWORD FLEET IS COMPLETE......ALMOST!

It was a big weekend for me ay Moonbase. I took possession of a Century 21 Task Force 2 and this vehicle completed my C21 Project SWORD collection ......well almost ....I've given up on that elusive Nuke Ferry of course!

Twenty five years of SWORD collecting have come full circle as my fleet is, well, complete.

BLUE RIDER : THE SPACEX I NASA GLIDER LIFTING BODY

The Project SWORD Space Glider was one of my fave toys as a kid and the first I got 'back' as an adult in the early 1990's at an evening toy fair in Normanton. I never knew that SpaceX did there own version until the mid- Nineties. 

Looking at the above pictures I archived from an online auction it does look superb on its original blister card. It features the small round decal, which adorned many SpaceX toys but I'm not sure of its significance. You can see the Glider close up below courtesy of collector Barry Ford.

Apollo Tracking

Just a few months before I finally found an Apollo Tracker, I converted an existing Cricket. Have to say i'm still unsure about the orange though..  Heres the Spacex 1 new cardback from the Nuclear Ferry.

MAN IN FLIGHT COINS BY ANDY B

Hi Woodsy,

You mentioned the Petrol station coins Man in Flight.  Here's a scan of my set, with a detail showing the space-related coins. 

I think they were released around 1970. Unfortunately due to indifferent storage a couple of the coins have some sort of corrosion product on - not sure what to do about this.

COSMIC SEEKER : THE SPACEX I APOLLO TRACKER

It has to be said that some SpaceX 1 series toys are equally as attractive and scarce as their series 2 counterparts.

One of my favourite Series 1 toys is the gorgeous Apollo Tracker pictured above courtesy of Bill. As usual, I don't and never did possess one of these but I'm drawn to its simple classic Sci-Fi looks. Its that big antenna!

Probably more than the toy even, I just love the illustration of the Apollo Tracker on the back of its backing card. Its pictured below courtesy of Will Osborne [never managed to get a front view!]. The clean two-tone artwork is fabulous. It makes me think of a sandy desert planet with a cold pale moon.
