I've said before that the Sears Bandai line are some of the most beautiful tin toys ever.
I mean look at the cruising lines of these Turnpike trucks. They're so Thunderbirds!
Do you like them? Got any?

I begged for at least one of the Sears bandai space vehicles (Moon Mobile Rocket Launcher) as a kid. But, to my parents in 1961. The price of those toys were only for rich kids. I had to settle for something cheaper at Woolworths.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you get then Bob?
DeleteA battery operated robot. It was, if I recall, about 3 US$ vs 10-12 US$ for the Sears vehicle. Considering my mother was making less than 1US$ and hour at the time, I understand-now...
DeleteFunny seeing these toys. My first exposure to these big blocky trucks was in a Sendai series from Japan, Flashman. One of their later giant robots was one of these trucks and giant trailer called Flash Titan. The truck part transformed into Titan Boy and the trailer would stand up on end, and Titan Boy would leap into it, creating the firepower heavy Great Titan. Several other series used this same concept until it went out of fashion.
