A reader sent me these pics over the summer.
A full box of Swizzles Space Fleet 2000.
Such clever marketing, they all slot together to form ever bigger spacecraft and stations!
Don't they look fabulous in that box: from a time when space and sci-fi was still cool for kids ( or cool once more) in the late 70's/ early 80's.
They always make me think of 2000AD comics and Space Raider snacks, all part of that rusty, weathered, industrial, baddie-filled universe that came after Star Wars and ALIEN hit our screens.
Have you got anything like this readers?
I've got a full set of them and recall going round newsagents cherry picking the Space Station 101 and 102 modules, so I could build a double tier station! Theres a mail away poster for the series in the house somewhere too.., bill
ReplyDeleteI remember these too, I bought some as a kid, but realised that you couldn't always get all of the sherbert out because of the detail on the molding, so I would look past them on the counter at the sweet shop and head straight for the dib-dabs instead
DeleteHa ha - I just dumped the sherbet and kept the capsules! It was always far too sweet and sugary
DeleteMmm. Dib dabs , I loved them too MJ!
DeleteYou've got to find that poster Bill!
ReplyDeleteIve got some of the paperwork, I'd love a scan of the box !

Is there not enough artwork of the box online for you to recreate it?
