Sorry to hear that veteran actor, Bernard Cribbins has sadly passed away, aged 93.
Best known to me as Tom Campbell in the 1966 film, Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD, seen here with Peter Cushing and Jill Curzon on this cinema F.O.H. photo.
He also appeared in the 'new' Doctor Who series, as Wilfred Mott between 2007 and 2010.
Our sincere condolences to his friends and family.
Really sad news. He had always been around, the voice of so much in our childhood and an excellent performance in modern era Doctor Who too. Will be very much missed.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Kevin. I vividly remember his novelty records from the sixties- Hole in the Ground and Right Said Fred etc. Sad news.
DeleteI remember him as the voice of The Wombles
ReplyDeleteVery sad news indeed. He was a legendary classic British comedy actor, and was on our screens through seven or maybe eight decades !
ReplyDeleteI never met or worked with him, but was briefly in the guest room for the Dr Who 50th anniversary convention, at the Excel Centre, in 2013, at the same time as him.
Yes, really sad news. I loved Bernard Cribbins as a kid. An icon of our Sixties and Seventies childhoods. In the last few years I kept seeing pictures of him in Staithes on the Yorkshire Coast and always remembered him with fondness.
ReplyDeleteWhat is/was his link to Staithes Woodsy ?
ReplyDeleteA 2013 TV kids' show called Old Jack's Boat Mish, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Jack%27s_Boat
DeleteVery sad day. What a career, a Britsh icon. Really nice guy too. Loved him as Nervous O'Toole in The Wrong Arm of The Law and in Two Way Stretch - both with Peter Sellers, Carry On Jack, Dr Who, Jackanory, The Wombles and much much more . I'll gloss over his Space 1999 episode though ! Going to have to listen to his 1962 hit Right Said Free now on Youtube.
ReplyDeleteAn impressive innings! He was such a part of my TV childhood, along with Roy Hudd, Pete and Dud, Tommy Cooper and of course Benny Hill. He brought so much joy into my life and I salute him!
