Hi,
Further to Terranova47's post, every year Hot Wheels include a group of five Batman models within the Mainline range. There are usually a mix of one or two new models, along with several existing models in new colours.
Among the 2022 Batman range is a 'tooned' version of the Classic TV Series Batmobile from the 1960s. Being a tooned version, the model is a chubby, cartoon-like caricature of the real vehicle. It is only 54 mm long, just over two inches. Much shorter than the regular version.
The body is metal, and this first version is painted gloss black. It has a black plastic base. The interior and rear parachute packs are silver-grey plastic. The clear parts have a smoke-grey finish. Markings are red and light grey. The rear wheels are larger than the front wheels, and both are fitted with chromed 5-spoke hubs.
The details on the base include the model name: Classic TV Series Batmobile; TM & © DC; © 2021 Mattel; the Hot Wheels ribbon; and made in Malaysia.
Neither the model, nor the card, make any reference to this being a tooned version of the TV car. It is model 3/5, or the third model in the five model Batman sub-series.
The short and dumpy appearance of the model reminds me of a child's pedal car.
What do you think?

Deformed vehicles are an acquired taste. I remember lots of deformed Thunderbirds toy vehicles. I can see the attraction but I prefer a straight-up Batmobile. Interesting though. Thanks Paul.
ReplyDeleteI too prefer the real thing. I was never keen on the Hardnoze and Crooze Batmobiles from 2004, and they did not last long. I preferred the realistic models.
