Hi Woodsy.
Admittedly, Fish and Chips are a little different in the States as you might be used to.
Rarely does it show up on restaurant menus, save for a few Irish- style Pubs, but I still crave the combination of fried fish and potatoes this time of year.
My ingredients come from the freezer and they are cooked in an Air Fryer, making the dish a little bit healthier.
I like a little melted butter and a splash of lemon juice on my fish.
How do you guys like yours readers?

I absolutely love Fish and Chips. We have a great Fish and Chip shop within walking distance from my home. So its a little too convenient for the waistline!
ReplyDeleteI have to be careful with acids like vinegar and lemon juice on things like fish as it can make me quite queasy, and not a good gastronomic combination for my digestion. But I prefer them with salt only anyway.
Talking if which, its Friday!
As an uprooted Londoner living in New York City since 1974 it has been a sad time for enjoying Fish 'n' Chips. Even Irish/British style pubs should they get the batter crisp can only offer Cod.
ReplyDeleteSince having a second home in Connecticut for the last ten years we are able to obtain really good Fish 'n' Chips from the local BIG Y Supermarket. The reason: Haddock! The tastiest fish for this meal.
In the past we had vacationed in New Bedford, Massachusetts a fishing port where Haddock was landed fresh.
So Brian, head north up Interstate 95 for the best Fish 'n' Chips in north America.
I love fish and chips, Britain's greatest food. Covered in tomato sauce, of course.
ReplyDeleteAustralia is quite well served for fish and chips in it's Take Away shops due to it's British heritage. In the 70s such establishments were usually run by Greeks or Italians. These days, it's more likely to be people from Asia or the Middle East. Aussie's gastronomic tastes have improved greatly with the mixing of different cultures. You very rarely see the old signs proclaiming "Chinese and Australian Meals" except on unrenovated shops!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I really miss from my English youth was the battered saveloy -and to be honest, they were pretty awful!
After discovering mayonnaise and black pepper on chips in Germany years ago I've never looked back!
ReplyDeleteLiving on the seacoast of northeast Massachusetts I can assure you that fish and chips is quite readily available in this area! While I hate to recommend any restaurant I will say that The Park Lunch in Newburyport, Massachusetts has fantastic fish and chips and is often the first stop for my crew and myself after returning to shore.
ReplyDeleteWow. You really are a skipper Captain Steve!
DeleteFish n chips seem to be a treat everywhere!
