The subject of Laurel and Hardy, and their vehicles, recently came up. Here is the only model I have, showing the pair in a WW2 US Army Jeep. It is a die-cast model, by a short-lived company called Gate. They mostly did modern sports cars, but there was also a Jeep.
This came as a standard WW2 US Army vehicle without figures. There were also some Star Car versions, with plastic figures. Comic strip character Beetle Bailey, and two versions of Laurel and Hardy.
In either normal suits, or dressed as US Navy sailors (but still driving an Army Jeep). The models were available in both 1/32nd and 1/18th scales.
My example is in 1/32nd scale, and has Oliver Hardy at the wheel, with Stan Laurel in the passenger seat. There are a couple of plastic suitcases in the back.

Awesome, love it, just as I remembered!
ReplyDeleteStan and Ollie look really pleased with that Jeep Paul!
ReplyDeleteYes, they do. Where are they off to ? A pity Gate was so short-lived.
