I thought this was a neat little carded set I saw on an old auction site, the Cousteau by Real Action. Could be quite modern.
A real mash-up with frogmen and a NASA space shuttle. Looks like they're looking for pirate treasure on the artwork!
I used to watch Jaques Cousteau on the telly when I was a kid too!
Would you have liked this set as a kid?
I would have loved this set, although the inclusion of a NASA craft is a little odd. The Cousteau team did have various submarines, which looked like spaceships, so it might actually have looked better had they left off the NASA stickers.
ReplyDeleteI too watched the TV series, and loved it.
Here is a short item on the Revell kits of the Cousteau ship Calypso, and the Catalina flying boat, from the 1970s. The ship was later re-issued, but without the Cousteau name - it was even removed from the kit stand. Article by Mat Irvine.
