When it comes to masked heroes, my favourite has got to be The Green Hornet. I've done several posts on the radio and TV character , not so much on the disappointing 2011 film but I will in time.
Here's a few photos of my reissued Polar Lights kit, based on the sixties Aurora kit. When the original Aurora kit designers were drawing it up in the sixties, they obviously chose to go with the single headlights version rather than the twins that were seen in the series. From what I understand the singles should really be normal white headlights, while the twin were the 'infra-green'. I read somewhere that the revolving light boxes jammed on the twin setting at the start of filming and that's how they remained. Anyway, the upshot is we get the single lights on the kit and I've used green LED's for obvious effect.
Let's roll, Kato!
Great night photos. That is another series that did not screen in New Zealand. There have not been nearly as many models of the Black Beauty as there have been of the various Batmobiles.
ReplyDeleteThe series had very limited air play here too, Paul.
DeleteI've got around 6 versions of the Black Beauty. 3 from the sixties and 3 from the 2011 film. Also one unlicensed film version from China.
It would be great to see your other versions of Black Beauty as well. I had always understood that The Green Hornet did not play on British TV in the 1960s, at least that is what is usually said when the Corgi version is mentioned.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly never aired on my local station, Granada, Paul, but I'm told several episodes were broadcast on one or two other local stations at the time, although that is annecdotal.
DeleteIt was apparently shown on one of our satellite stations in the eighties or nineties, my guess being Bravo.
I'll see what I can do about digging out my other Black Beautys for you.
