As the end of the summer approaches and Autumn light washes in like milk in a glass of water my mind wanders to the balmy care-free days that have just passed.
Our family holiday with the two Moonbase Juniors on the east Yorkshire coast was simply brill and was everything that Cliff Richard promised in his famous summer song, which we sang a lot!
Here are a few impressions of the moors and the sea, which I took whilst on our holidays.
St. Marys, Whitby
Our atmospheric rented house, Castleton
Model Yacht in the house
Castleton alleyway by night
Funicular Railway, Saltburn by the Sea
Steps to our house by night
Headland, Saltburn by the Sea
Moonbase Junior and Mum sand-castling, Runswick Bay

Junior's toy boat, Runswick Bay
Back home at Moonbase we marked the end of August with our traditional night-time firepit hoping to cast some light onto the darker months ahead.
Its always hard coming home after a care-free holiday I find but I didn't need to worry about the blog. Scoop did a fabulous job and continues to do so and I'd like to thank him on everyone's behalf for his sterling efforts.
Looks like youve had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWe did, thanks Wote.
DeleteYes Woodsy, Scoop kept us particularly visually satisfied throughout your absence, in his usual stylish way. Well done Scoop !
ReplyDeleteNonetheless,good to see you back.
Mish.
Thanks Mish!
DeleteA hilltop castle, and a funicular railway. Wow. Very nice. Glad you had a good break with the family. Yes, thank you to Scoop.
ReplyDeleteWhitby's great- and of course, a Bram Stoker/Dracula connection too!
ReplyDeleteWhat more could you ask for Andy I agree!
DeleteIs the tiny vintage toy shop still there ?
ReplyDeleteI bought some 'Sword' bits and pieces there a few years ago, along with a 70s Marx Dalek.
Mish
Curio Corner, what a great little shop Mish I agree. I've been going there for years too. Once picked up a loose Fairylite Stingray for a fiver! Alas this time I couldn't as Whitby was just so full that we didn't feel virus safe with all the crowds. We had a pram and a toddler with us too so we stayed around the beach area. Which SWORD bits did you get there?
